McFarland coming back is sending quite the message to the young guys that have outpitched him. Get away from here as fast as you can. Results don’t matter. Just the dollar.

Miles gives up the early dinger. Is it too late to come back?

Thompson pitched very well since he was called up. No ERs. So he was seldom used and now sent back down.

Think we just may get Nola & Co. tonight, KansasCardFan. Hoskins tagged home run #18 for the game’s lone tally. And boy these guys have and can flex their muscles……and this even with Harper not in uni. It’s just not pleasant watching these Phillies kick sand in our face. We have the power to kick sand right back at them…….time to get these guys.

Carlson should get player of the game for that.

One would think that the Corey Dickerson experiment in St. Louis should have run it’s course by now. Phils still hold a commanding 1-0 advantage as we head to the 3rd.

I don’t know. Nola is looking awful tough tonight. Mikolas has pitched well to though.

Indeed Willie. Thru 3 complete, both Mikolas and Nola have struck out 4 without issuing a free pass. Nola has surrendered just one bunt single by Carlson, while Mikolas has given up only 2 hits, one the Hoskins dinger accounting for the game’s only run. Nola has thrown just 33 pitches…..28 of them strikes. Mikolas with 50 pitches.

Edman down to .255 now, and I think he has lost a tenth or maybe a couple of tenths off his WAR.

Can we possibly muster up a couple of tallies? That’s a tall order given our recent lack of offense and facing Nola.

Nola is a guy I’d have considered trading for if the Phillies had been sellers. Alas, they appear to be contenders.

Surprised Nola would make a mistake pitch to yepez. The first pitch was a foot out of zone and yepez swung at it. But yepez just missed it. Just goes to show even good pitchers pitching great are just a mistake away from bad things. If I was a pitcher and had a plus fastball, yepez would never see a strike and I believe I would own him.

Sometimes pitchers make mistakes and catch to much of the plate. But yeah, with Yepez I would throw hard stuff outside, and breaking pitches down and away and get him to flail away at those. Don’t give him anything on the inner half though, cause he will knock that stuff out of the yard.

Carlson came to play tonight. A couple others need to join him. Since coming back he has been getting it.

The bad news is our first four batters are a combined 0-12. The good news is that we lead Nola & Co. 3-1 in the 6th.

Through 7 1/2 it’s still 3-1 Good Guys. No batter has trotted down to 1st base via a free pass in this ballgame.

Some players respond favorably to nice words spoken in their direction while others kick it into gear with harsh words. I think Dickerson fits the later category. Cards now drilling Nola to the tune of 5-1.

I think Coreys a better player than hes been so far in St Louis Pugs. Used to watch him here playing for the Rays. He ended up somewhere else bout the time they cleaned house and only kept Kiermer. Didn’t do that well and now in St Louis and we do have a history of picking up guys that do make a rebound. He could contribute more like a couple others
