I don’t understand starting Liberatore Saturday, unless they want to give Wainwright, Hudson, Pallante and extra day and Wainwright an extended break over the all-star break.
    They have it set up
    Mikolas-1@PHIL, 6@ATL, 11 PHIL, 16 CIN
    Liberatore-2@PHIL, 7@ATL, 12 LAD, 17 CIN
    Wainwright-3@PHIL, 8 PHIL, 13 LAD
    Hudson-4@ATL, 9 PHIL, 14 CIN
    Pallante-5@ATL, 10 PHIL, 15 CIN

They could throw Wainwright, Hudson, Pallante on regular rest after Mikolas, then Liberatore on the 5th. That would give Wainwright 4 starts before the break, Liberatore only 3 instead of 4, and the last series vs Cincinnati before the break have Liberatore, Mikolas, Wainwright.

And I’ll further it with Matz threw a 2 inning rehab on 6/28. One would think that means he’s scheduled to keep stretching out on 7/3, 7/8, 7/13, then would be scheduled for 7/18 which is a Monday meaning Memphis is off and it’s the first day of the major league all-star break. If all goes well in his next 3 rehab starts you’d think he’d be slated to come back probably in the first series at Cincinnati. He could start the 22nd, first game back, and be on 8 days rest since his last rehab start, giving more time off for Mikolas and Wainwright.

You guys realize this 14 game stretch against the Phillies, Braves, and Dodgers could possibly – POSSIBLY – make or break our season. The Brewers have an easy schedule this same time frame with the Pirates and Cubs for ten games.

If we go 5-9 and the Brewers go 8-2 we would be several games back.

The Phillies and Braves have a W-L record comparable to ours but are in a better Division. That means they are probably better than us, as are the Dodgers. So it is going to be a rough stretch.

    1. Tommy Edman (S) SS

    2. Brendan Donovan (L) LF

    3. P. Goldschmidt (R) 1B

    4. Nolan Arenado (R) 3B

    5. Nolan Gorman (L) 2B

    6. Juan Yepez (R) DH

    7. Dylan Carlson (S) CF

    8. Lars Nootbaar (L) RF

    9. Ivan Herrera (R) C

Liberatore pitching. Kyle Gibson going for Philly. He had a pretty good season, but a 5.59 ERA in his last 9 starts, which even includes an 8 inning 1 run start.

Hicks is back? Has he finally learned to throw the ball over the plate? If not, what is he doing back in the big leagues???

    Guess time will tell……

Be nice to Hicks Rat. They are gonna need him!!

I’d assume Noot has to be down to his last few chances.

Sosa kind of has Woodford syndrome, I think. His on field results don’t really matter.

FYI……Matt Carpenter hit his 7th homerun of the year today in Cleveland. He is now hitting .275 along with 16 rbi’s in close to 40 ABs.

And I consider this game today a big one. Need to win this one.

Lol, Phillies announcer: “I don’t think it’s possible to do this.”

The bad thing about four consecutive homeruns is they’re mostly solo shots.

Yes they did. Arenado and Yepez were both off balance, but able get the barrel to the ball and sneak them over the wall. But Gorman and Carlson were timed up and launched. Best left handed swing out of Carlson in awhile. Looked real good.

Well a great way to get liberatore to ease into the game. If a five run first doesn’t get your juices going, they may not flow.

Wow Libby finally plugs the leak. Gives up hits like a sieve in the 2nd inning. Don’t give it all back!

That was a bad play there. Gorman shouldn’t have slowed, it was his ball the whole way not goldys.

Can’t find the strike zone w/his offspeed stuff and they are sitting on fastballs.
