Brewers sat on Matz’s junk pitches the first 2 innings. A couple of hits but no cigars.
April 16, 2022 at 6:58 pm #182592Matz looking good.
April 16, 2022 at 7:06 pm #182593It’s time for a little production out of the LH DH.
April 16, 2022 at 7:12 pm #182595Nice ab by DeJong. RBI!
April 16, 2022 at 7:13 pm #182596Nice to see PDJ come through! Cards up 1-0.
April 16, 2022 at 7:15 pm #182597Up 1-0. Wasn’t it me who was saying PDJ would be fine?
April 16, 2022 at 7:18 pm #182598Bader went fishing on that curve ball
April 16, 2022 at 7:20 pm #182599Mikolas and Matz have restored my confidence with the starters.
April 16, 2022 at 7:23 pm #182600Would be nice of they would hire Brad Thompson as an Asst Pitching Coach.
April 16, 2022 at 7:54 pm #182601Carlson lookin like a real outfielder!
April 16, 2022 at 7:59 pm #182602Matz looked really good tonight- looks like a great acquisition!
April 16, 2022 at 8:01 pm #182603Carlson looks really comfortable. Settling in quite nicely.
April 16, 2022 at 8:01 pm #182604It’s early! lol
I think people are going to be pleasantly surprised with the rotation when Jack is out. It’s situations like this that worry me. The Pen imo could be feast or famine.
April 16, 2022 at 8:08 pm #182605Bader lead off hit!
April 16, 2022 at 8:38 pm #182606Dickerson RBI ! Gonna need that LH bat! Relief pitchings looking good too so far!
April 16, 2022 at 9:14 pm #182607Sweeeee…t double play to end it. Pitchers game and we won it. One hit for everybody that batted except for one big guy. Who needs to work on his timing and get rolling! Go Cardinals!

ParticipantNot a bad game tonight. Missed a few opportunities but solid pitching. Good pitching on both sides really and the umpire called a good game. Those pitches the crowd was groaning about were off the plate. But if the ball caught the plate it was a strike outside of one I saw but the pitcher totally missed his spot which was inside and the ball went on the outside corner. Defense was solid. That double play to end it seemed like it was in slow motion. Also nice to see Dickerson finally really come through. Needed it. I thought they were kind of pushing it with Cabrera. Matz looked really good coming off his first game. Go for the series win tomorrow.
April 16, 2022 at 9:25 pm #182611What a lovely win that was. That was fuuuuuun.
April 16, 2022 at 9:28 pm #182612Arenado is so impressive defensively. Nothing like a 4-5-3 double play to end it.
April 16, 2022 at 10:19 pm #182614Good one to hang onto. Kinda had a feeling about the game-ending DP, but felt like willie that it was in slo mo. I think Edman didn’t want to rush things because he knew the slow fat guy was running.

jj-cf-stlParticipantMatz and Dickerson, two of our offseason additions, made significant contributions to the win column yesterday. Welcome aboard boys!

jj-cf-stlParticipantMatz with a GmSc of 69 yesterday, coming within one out of a QS.
In 2019 the MLB QS% was 37%. In 2021 it was 33%. Through yesterday the QS% this season is 13%.
This season STL has a 29% QS% and an average GmSc of 49, mlb average is 50.
