He’s done.
June 24, 2022 at 8:53 pm #189101Bottom of 5. Hendricks starts this inning with only 47 pitches thrown.
Donovan on 3-2 strikes out looking and the Cards rookie doesn’t like the call at all….and for good reason.
Pez grounds out……we have no idea where as these Apple broadcasters were showing highlights of other games during the action.
Carlson whiffs.

Cards 0June 24, 2022 at 8:59 pm #189103Top of 6. Pallante at 81 pitches as this inning starts.
Bote strikes out swinging.
Heyward….. geesh this guy is one tall drink of water…..he taps a slow grounder down the 1st baseline where Goldy fields it in fair territory almost directly on top of the bag….2 out.
Rivas grounds out to Gorman at 2nd.

Cards 0June 24, 2022 at 9:00 pm #189104I stand corrected. Pallante looked wore out to me. Had a good inning there. Has kept us in the game. But Hendricks just has had our number over the last few years.
June 24, 2022 at 9:03 pm #189105Bottom of 6. Hendricks starts the inning with 58 pitches.
Bader flies out to Happ in relatively deep left-center field to open the Redbird 6th.
Knizner grounds out to Hoerner at SS.
Edman smokes a liner into right for a base hit.
Gorman strikes out swinging on a high hard one.

Cards 0June 24, 2022 at 9:12 pm #189106Top of 7. Junior Fernandez your new Cardinal hurler. This was not one of Pallante’s better performances, but he did demonstrate the ability to wiggle out of some self inflicted jams.
Morel strikes out swinging on a 99 mph heater
Contreras raps a one hopper down to Arenado at 3rd who gloves it and wings it across the diamond to Goldy at 1st for the out.
Happ grounds out to Gorman at 2nd.

Cards 0June 24, 2022 at 9:16 pm #189108Jim Nabors gotta break down sometime. Go get him here.
June 24, 2022 at 9:17 pm #189109Donovan on 3-2 strikes out looking and the Cards rookie doesn’t like the call at all….and for good reason.
That was no joke. That ball was at least 4 inches outside. Hendricks had gotten a lot of called strikes well out of the zone on both sides, up, and down. There was a called strike 1 on a curveball to Knizner earlier in the game the was well high.
June 24, 2022 at 9:23 pm #189110Bottom of 7. Hendricks will be able to pitch into next Tuesday at his present pace, if called upon, as he has only thrown 68 pitches thus far tonight.
Goldy flies out to Happ on the track in left…..at the crack of the bat, Cardinal fans were thinking big things, but it was not to be.
Arenado couldn’t check his swing on one that was wayyy wide of the plate.
Donovan goes the other way and lines a single to left.
Pez pops out to the right fielder Heyward who finally catches up with the ball right about where the 2nd baseman was originally positioned.

Cards 0June 24, 2022 at 9:27 pm #189111Top of 8. Wittgren on for St. Louis.
Wisdom flies out to Donovan in short left field.
Hoerner flies out to Carlson in right field.
Gomes golfs a base hit into right and did you just see Hendricks in the dugout? Not one beed of sweat emanating from his forehead….take away that baseball uniform and he could pass for a high school math teacher sitting in the stands on a 65 degree evening taking in a game.
Bote strikes out.

Cards 0June 24, 2022 at 9:39 pm #189112Bottom of 8. Hendricks at an even 80 pitches.
Carlson lines a base hit to center…..sweet start to the Redbird 8th.
Bader throttles a deep drive to left… that bangs high up off the wall and he’ll check into 2nd base with a double with Tommy E. slamming on the brakes at 3rd base and the Birds are in business now.
Nooty strikes out swinging….ouch! And that’ll do it for Hendricks as his skipper is coming to get him. Hendricks bears full responsibility for the two Cardinal base runners, but he still cannot lose this game, though he is in line to win it….. let’s make that not a happening thing shall we?
Pitching change:
June 24, 2022 at 9:40 pm #189113Nooty never had anything close to a strike. sheeesh
June 24, 2022 at 9:46 pm #189114Bottom of 8 (continued). Martin the new cub pitcher.
Edman lines a grounder right back at and off Martin who quickly picks it back up and guns Tommy out at 1st base. No runs scored.
Gorman lines it right at Nico Hoerner to retire the side. A great start to the inning, but it fizzles out with nary a whimper.

Cards 0June 24, 2022 at 9:52 pm #189115Top of 9. Wittgren back out for a 3rd inning of relief. Herrera replaces Knizner behind the plate.
Heyward flies out to Carlson on the track in right.
Rivas flies out to Bader who makes a nice running and diving catch in left-center field.
Morel lines out to Edman at short who made a nice catch.

Cards 0June 24, 2022 at 10:01 pm #189116Bottom of 9. David Robertson on for the attempted save. He’s 8-11 in the save department this year…..8-12 sounds much better.
Goldy first pitch swinging flies out to Morel on the center field track.
Arenado pops out to Rivas in fair territory just a couple of feet off the 1st base bag
Donovan hit on the toes….HBP…..cubs want a review of it…..no dice, Brendan can stay put at 1st base.
Pez strikes out looking. Sorry we couldn’t have reported a better game, gang, but we’ll get em good tomorrow.
Your final score:

St. Louis Cardinals 0June 24, 2022 at 11:11 pm #189117Well I just got home and saw the score. Shut out at home against one of the worst teams in the league? Seriously?
June 25, 2022 at 1:02 am #189118I’d be more concerned with us starting a series in a hole. Walton must have some stats I won’t look up or am deep in some Bourbon to. lol
Can’t win if you don’t score. Offense doesn’t have me fooled. It folds when it matters most.
June 25, 2022 at 5:10 am #189119Time to bring up some more new guys.
June 25, 2022 at 7:45 am #189124I think Hendricks has a negative career ERA against the Cardinals…
June 25, 2022 at 9:02 am #189125In 160 Innings he’s 13-3 with a 2.69 era. vs Cards. He needs to go to play in the al.
