    Bottom of 2.

Boggy(Bogaerts) opens the Sox 2nd with a base hit to left.

Story strikes out swinging on a nice slider.

Cordero walks on a 3-1 borderline pitch just a titch off the outside corner.

Dalbec strokes a soft single into center field for a base hit… Bogaerts scores without a throw and Cordero motors on over to 3rd…..3-1 Birds.

Bradley Jr bounces into a twin killing to extinguish the Boston quest for more runs…..just what the doctor ordered.

    Top of 3.

    Donovan strikes out looking.

Goldy on 3-2 hits a soft popup that Devers catches while standing on the 3rd base bag.

    Arenado strikes out swinging.

    Bottom of 3.

    Plawecki walks…..be careful Dakota….. you’re flirting with Trouble with a capital “T”.

Duran bounces it to Gorman at 2nd base who’ll fire it to Edman at 2nd for one, but Tommy will not attempt a throw to 1st base…one out

Devers whacks a high deep drive to center, but the ballpark is going to hold this one, as Bader drifts back to the edge of the track to haul it in….and Harrison quickly fires the ball into 2nd base so to thwart any notions that Duran may have of sneaking 90 feet on over to the next base.

Martinez bounces it to Arenado at 3rd and he’ll glove it and gun it across the diamond to Goldy’s waiting mitt to retire the side.

    Top of 4.

Gorman……launches a long one to center…..Duran races back and looks up and it’s bombs away! Into the seats for a homer…4-1 Cards.

O’Neill grounds out to Devers at 3rd.

Carlson on 3-2 rolls it out to Story at 2nd base and Trevor gloves it and throws Dylan out at 1st base by a mere half step.

Bader launches a reasonably long fly to left … Cordero drifts back to the wall….and does not come away with it as the ball clanks off the wall and Harrison will gallop into 2nd with a double……it looked like Cordero had that fly ball measured.

Knizner grounds out to Bogaerts at short.

Bottom of 4. Hudson starts the inning with 41 pitches.

Bogaerts on 3-2 strikes out looking.

Story lines it to right….and Carlson will have to play that one in a bounce…base hit. Hudson had him 0-2 but Story wiggled on off the hook

Cordero bounces it right at Goldy near the 1st base bag where he’ll glove it and step on the bag for one and Goldy’s throw to 2nd base will get away from Edman….safe at 2nd.

Dalbec on 3-2 walks on an extremely close pitch ….ring him up ump!

Bradley Jr. walks on 4 pitches and the bottom 3 in the Boston order are not having to move a muscle up at the dish as Hudson is giving them free passes . Bases juiced.

Plawecki walks on 4 straight and Hudson presently can’t find home plate with a seeing eye dog at his side….4-2.

Duran grounds it down to Arenado at 3rd…..and Nolan’s throw will just barely get him….I do not want them to replay that one ..oh it was close.

Hudson ends the frame with 77 pitches

Top of 5. Ryan Brasier pitching for Boston.

Edman bounces it to the right of Story at 2nd who nicely gloves it and in the same motion fires it to 1st base to nip Tommy by mere inches.

    Donovan walks.

    Goldy strikes out swinging.

Arenado flies out to deep center where Duran had him played within spitting distance of the warning track.

    Bottom of 5.

    Devers on 3-2 strikes out swinging, Hudson’s 3rd K.

Martinez grounds it … almost over Edman’s head as that one took a hometown bounce and nearly ends up in left field for a hit, but Edman snagged it first….and Tommy’s throw to 1st base will get him.

Bogaerts bounces it up the middle and off Donovan’s glove and it’ll trickle out into short center field where Edman quickly pounces on it…base hit

Story grounds it to Arenado at 3rd and he’ll glove it and opt for the short toss to Donovan at 2nd base to retire the side.

Top of 6. Hansel Robles center stage for Boston ….it would be kind of neat if Boston also had a reliever with the name “Gretel” too.

Gorman strikes out as he couldn’t check his swing.

O’Neill…..launches one deep to center and…bombs away baby….into the seats for a homer…..5-2 Birds and the Cards are starting to really flex their muscles in this series.

Carlson walks on 4 pitches and that will inspire a meeting at the mound for the Red Sox.

Bader on 3-2 nubs a slow roller that’ll flirt with the 3rd base chalk….fair or foul….fair or…..yes, it stays fair… infield base hit for Bader. Runners at 1st & 2nd now with one out.

Knizner on 3-2 walks…..how sweet is that! Bases bulging with Birds. And Hansel is getting the hook.

Evidently O’Neill hates running around the bases after a HR because he tries to get it over with as fast as he can.

Top of 6 (continued). Sawamura now pitching for Boston.

Edman bangs it past Sawamura and out into center field for a base hit!…. Carlson will tippy toe on in with Harrison Bader nipping at his heels and he’ll score…it’s now 7-2 St. Louis. Knizner stopped his forward progress at 2nd.

Donovan bounces it to Dalbec at 1st who bobbles it….picks it up and steps on 1st base….too late! Donovan beat him to it on a very close play….E-3.

Goldy….base hit to center…. Knizner will score with Edman squealing around 3rd base and he’ll step on home plate too….9-2 Cards. Runners on the corners and still only one out.

Arenado blisters a hard grounder past Story and out into right field for a base hit…. Donovan scores and it’s 10-2 Birds. Goldy to 2nd base.

Gorman hits a high deep fly to center….but this one is staying in the park as Duran will slap the leather on it on the track for out #2. Goldy advances to 3rd base on the play.

O’Neill walks and that will load the sacks up with Redbirds once again. We’re getting mighty close to “Calling Off The Dogs” time as this one has turned into a good ol’ fashioned rout.

    Carlson strikes out looking.

Gorman has made the 1st two outs of the 6th. Wonder if any batter has ever made all three outs in an inning?

Maybe Pugs could ring up one of his buddies at the Elias Sports Bureau for the answer?

Great question Euro Dandy! That would be a dandy of a question for Skippy and all of the fine folks over at the esteemed Elias Sports Bureau. Off the top of my head I would say that there’s not a snowballs chance in a hot oven that a batter has ever made all 3 outs in an inning, but we better leave the official call on that to the professionals……and there are none finer than over at Elias.

Thompson sets them down 1-2-3 in the Boston 6th……just for you JJ.

    * And with this being a blowout, I think I’ll bow out, as the little lady is aggressively seeking my company to watch “Heartland” with her. It’s been real, gang……bring home the “W” Wooster, Euro, Bling and JJ.
