    Nooty strikes out looking.

Bader drills a liner into left for a base hit.

Edman grounds out to Madrigal at 2nd, who made a nice play ranging way to his left to glove it and then throw Tommy out at 1st…..Bader safely to 2nd.

Goldy hits a rocket to center….that will go over the center fielders head and on one hop bang up against the ivy where Morel nicely bare hands the carom off the wall, but in comes Bader to score with Goldy landing at 2nd with an rbi double.

Arenado spanks a base hit to left and with Goldy rounding 3rd we’re going to have a play at the plate…..safe…but they’re going to nail Arenado at 2nd….no!…. somehow someway they called him safe and this game is tied at a deuce.

Pez flies out to Frazier in short right…..where it briefly appeared that all 3 cubs who were converging on the ball just might allow that ball to hit the turf, but Frazier took charge at the last moment.

Libby settling down here in the 3rd…. he’s at 54 pitches with 2 out and nobody on. And with those words Swindell tags a drive to left that will allow himself to trot around the bases at his own leisure……436 feet on that homer they say and it’s 3-2 Chicago.

Top of 4. Thompson starts this inning having thrown 45 pitches.

Donovan drills a base hit to center…..the guy is a tough out.

Albert.,…seems to be getting around much too quickly on this Thompson fellow as he’s now whacked a few foul liners to left in his two plate appearances tonight. And now Albert raps into a 5-4-3 twin killing.

Yadi flies out routinely to Morel in center.

That’s 3 homers allowed in 3 IP. That’s going to send Liberatore’s MB/9 through the roof. (For thos not hip to analytics lingo, thats meatballs per 9 innings)

Libby’s 80th pitch will be his last pitch, as he’s getting yanked with 1 out and the bases totally crammed with cubbies here in the bottom of the 4th in a 4-2 Chicago ballgame.

    Wittgren on for St. Louis

Contreras fouls out to Goldy for out #2.

Wisdom grounds out 6-4 to retire the side….and that could have been a disaster of an inning…. let’s get these chumps now.

Nooty blisters a shot …fair down the right field line and it’ll skip off the sidewall as Frazier will efficiently play the carom and Nooty will check into 2nd with a double.

    Bader strikes out looking…. Thompson’s 3rd whiff.

Edman hits it deep to center but it’s in play as Morel camps under it about 2 feet shy of the track and Nooty will safely scamper on over to 3rd.

Goldy grounds out to Hoerner at short to retire the side.

I’m starting to get the inkling that Wittgren relishes getting out of pickles.

cubs do get one run and it’s now 5-2 Chicago heading to the 6th. The Cards know they’re significantly better that these guys ….time to man up and take charge in this game.

Top of 6. Thompson still dealing for Chicago.

Arenado flies out to Frazier in short right field.

Pez on 3-2 refrains from biting on one that’s just a bit wide and he’ll take his rightful place down at 1st base.

Donovan on 3-2 , just like Pez, resists one that’s just a smidgen wide of the zone…..that pitch was even closer to to nipping that corner than the ball 4 pitch to Pez. What an impressive hitter this Donovan kid is…..I dare say the name, but with some polishing he reminds me some of Wade Boggs with his plate discipline and how he works the pitchers..the pitchers never worked Wade, as he worked them…and that will do it for Thompson.

    Rucker on for Chicago

Albert walks and this inning is turning into a walkathon….. let’s see a few more. Bases teeming with Cardinals.

Yadi grounds it out to Hoerner at short and he’ll go to Madrigal at 2nd for one …and that’s all they’ll get as Pez will score cutting the Cardinal deficit to 5-3.

Nooty flies out to Happ in left

Wittgren keeps the cubs at bay in the 6th and he is singlehandedly keeping us in this game. If our boys can muster a rally and take this game, they better flip Mr. Wittgren the game ball, regardless of who the offensive hero may be.

Hes doing pretty good. Gave up a couple runs but hes better now. Got 5 game series here so he will probably go most of the rest of the way. Glad Thompsons out of there. He had like 6 different pitches. We’re behind them so far in total hits. Only 2 runs down.

Top of 7 . Scott Effross on for Chicago. Our old pal Jason Heyward takes his glove out to right field.

Bader taps a little comebacker to Effross and he’ll take a few quick strides towards 1st base and then think better of engaging Bader in a footrace, so he’ll underhand it over to Schwindel for the out

Edman rips it into left for a base hit.

    Goldy strikes out looking.

Arenado pops out to the SS Hoerner in short left field to retire the side.

McFarland pitching for the Cards in the 7th.

Induces the first 2 cubs into grounding out to short, then surrenders a soft infield single, so now he’ll face Jason Heyward.

Heyward pops out to the SS Edman about 15 feet directly north of 2nd base and that will retire the side.

Top of 8. Effross still on the hill for Chicago.

Pez hits it right on the button to right, but unfortunately right in Jason Heyward’s sphere of influence and that’s one down here in the Cardinal 8th and we’re starting to run out of time here. Let’s go gents!

Donovan flies out routinely to Happ in left.

    Albert strikes out swinging.

McFarland in a speck of 8th inning difficulties with runners on the corners and nobody out. But then Edman nails Higgins at home plate attempting to score on an infield grounder…. let’s pick matters up shall we?

Contreras hit on the foot after McFarland had him in the Mariana Trench 0-2…..bases loaded and McFarland is exiting this ballgame.

    Enter Kodi Whitley

Wisdom walks and Patrick will pick up an rbi without moving a muscle….6-3 Chicago.

Schwindel hits a sac fly to right extending the cub advantage to 7-3.

Hoerner pops out to Donovan at 2nd.

Top of 9. Givens pitching for Chicago.

Yadi rips a liner that nearly leaves scorch marks as it whizzes over 3rd base and caroms off the left field sidewall but Happ will play the rebound nicely keeping Yadi from venturing any further than 1st base.

Nooty grounds it out to Madrigal at 2nd and he’ll get Yadi at 2nd but that’s it….one out

Bader……whacked deep to left center…..thar she blows……gone a 2 run jack and just like that the Cards are within 2…..7-5.

    Edman grounds out to 2nd.

    Goldy strikes out looking.

    Your final:

    Chicago cubs 7
    St. Louis Cardinals 5
