They should credit Albert with a SAVE.

Oh wow Carter…..never pictured Phoenix losing at home, as they were as dominant as dominant gets this year

Unlike before I guess the best teams are in the East now so we’re not as good as I thought

No matter how many baseball games you’ve seen, you’ve never seen it all.

Darn! They had to save the beautiful fireworks for a Sunday NIGHT game (an abomination under any circumstances) so I was deprived of much needed joy. I guess I’ll watch it on replay at my leisure later today. But it ain’t the same. What the hell was that Pujols pitching all about?

    Rah Cardinals!

Very nice game last night, gang! It’s good to see the bats break out, which they seem to do from time to time. It would be good to get a little more consistent production there, but there’s some momentum at least.

    Puhols on the mound. Hilarious.

Time for Gorman to be added to this mix. Playing a lot of 2B and Lefty DH. Install Sosa at SS for the next month. Make or break with him. He’s the best option there, imo. Edman gets daily time mostly in the OF and Some 2B. O’Neill, Bader, and Carlson need the message. Hit or sit. If Donovan keeps contributing he can play all over the place same as Edman. If the OF continues to struggle at the plate he can slot in there. Dickerson is taking at bats away from Donovan at this point. Cut him loose. Edman, Donovan, and Gorman can all be the Lefty DH. A youth infusion may trigger this Team.

We have a 145 ops+ vs lhp’s, 99 vs righties. Rondon was just our latest victim.

The inconsistency is the handedness matchups.

This game reminded me of a softball beer game. Molina probably told Marmol to let Pujols pitch as they were both yucking it up. Very childish. I’ll bet the Giants didn’t appreciate it one bit, insult to injury. Extra unprofessional goings on.

You’re going to have Sosa or you’re going to have Gorman. You’re not going to have both. You’re not going to put Edman in the outfield, not on a regular basis anyway. If Yepez can hit his way into the outfield, so much the better. Donovan looks like a good candidate for utility. Dickerson and perhaps Sosa have trade bait written all over them.

    Ny,
Your speculation is way off base, per published reports.

    1. Albert said Marmol was looking for volunteers to pitch the 9th (AFTER Kapler put his left fielder in to pitch in the last out in the 7th plus all of the 8th) and Albert volunteered.

    2. Kapler said it was fun and a good way to wash the taste of that nasty game out of their mouths.

Thank you for the update on that, UConn Card. I feel like it was probably more respectful and a fun way to end the game rather than any unprofessionalism. Why waste a solid arm pitching in a total blowout?

    Agree 25.

I think it would have been far more unsportsmanlike to have sent one of our bullpen guys for the 9th after Kapler clearly conceded by having his left fielder pitch.

BTW, I missed that the Giants new pitcher in the 7th wasn’t a pitcher. Looked up when he threw that first 45 mph loopy pitch and said to my husband “Dang! Did that guy just throw an eephus pitch?” 😆

Sosa has a little trade value, but Dickerson has virtually none, Cardinal In France. Watching Albert and Gonzalez pitch last night was fun. Anytime you can couple some extra unexpected fun with winning, then you have yourselves a special event. I wouldn’t expect any extracurricular pleasurable events in the Big Apple tonight vs that wimp, Alonso & Co. When you get to my age, you can spot a total nob a mile away…..and Alonso fits right into that uncoveted category. Let’s just be all business and come away with the series win.
