Arenado on 2-0 he pops out to Owings at 3rd base.
Pez fouls off a fistful of Watkins offerings before getting under one and flying out to Nevin in straightaway left field.
Carlson flies out to Hays in deep center.

Mullins leads off the Oriole 4th with a solid base hit to right….. Baltimore’s first hit….first base runner on the night. Mullins going station to station, as he advances to 2nd on a groundout by Mancini and then moves on over to 3rd on a Santander fly out to Carlson in right. Then Arenado makes a beautiful back handed snare of a red hot grounder and his one-hop throw to 1st will get his man(Hays) to retire the side without a scoring blemish.

Yadi strikes out waving at one way off the outside of the plate.
Bader grounds it thru the vacant hole between 1st & 2nd and out into right for a hit.
Dickerson skies one deep towards the right field corner ….where Santander has a beed on it….and will glove it for the out, out on the track and Harrison Bader will smartly tag at 1st and motor safety into 2nd base.
Donovan on 3-2 he coaxes a walk.
Edman blisters a base hit to left and Bader is rounding 3rd and eyeing home …. Nevin’s throw…sails over the catcher’s head and Cardinal runners will take up residence at 2nd & 3rd…..4-0 Cards.
Goldy whallops it deep to left center….back to the wall and it bangs off the top of the wall and Goldy will have himself a 2 run double….6-0 Cards.
Arenado pokes it to right center and it’ll fall it for a hit ….in comes Goldy with run #7 and Arenado is heading for 2nd…..just beats the tag.
Watkins gets the hook. Paul Fry the new Baltimore hurler.
Pez grounds out to short.

Orioles 0Boy this game is fun to watch tonight. Great to see Goldy and Nado get back to back hits. Haven’t seen that for awhile! Goldy just missed a dinger hit off the top of the wall! Got to count on good pitching now

Albert on 3-2 grounds it smack dab up the middle, but unfortunately that’s exactly where the Orioles scouting staff had Mateo playing….Mateo gloves it and throws Albert out at 1st base.
Donovan hit by pitch.
Edman hits a little tapper out in front of home plate where the catcher Chirinos pounces on it and throws Tommy out at 1st base with Donovan advancing to 2nd.
Goldy….on 0-2 Goldy grounds it past the mound and out into center for a hit….in comes Donovan and it’s now 8-1 St. Louis.
Arenado grounds out 5-4 to retire the side

A bunch of missing hombres…..a bunch of all-star missing hombres if you will.
I’m here guys. Just got back from the Evansville North at Jasper baseball game. The Wildcats of Jasper downed the Huskies of Evansville North 6-1.
Me and Whitey Herdog just finished a Double Whopper and now are about to indulge into a big piece of Cherry pie from the Gasthof. Then a cigar to finish out the game.

Bottom of 7. Lakins on for Baltimore. Sorry for the shoddy PBP tonight,but I have a good excuse in having to switch back and forth with the world champion Milwaukee Bucks game.
Pez fists a short fly to right that will fall in for a hit…..and this young fellow just keeps putting the ball into play….where very good things can potentially happen. If you don’t put the ball into play in this game, you won’t be playing it for long…..unless you’re fortunate enough to have yourself a big fat guaranteed contract…..then one can go quite a spell without putting the ball into play and yet still….play.
Carlson flies out to Santander in right.

Rat, Jasper good this year? I haven’t paid attention to local HS baseball in years. I know we were ranked high in the state ranking and lost the regional championship to Jasper when I was a Soph. They had a 3B who was a stud, can’t remember his name. Played there a few times, including Sr. year regional too. They had a beautiful field.
Top of 8. Jake “The Snake” Walsh on for his ML debut. He’ll wear a big “61” on his uni.

Owings – strikes him out looking…..and why not take that ball out of play?? I wonder what Bob Gibson’s or Nolan Ryan’s first K baseball would command on the open market ….it would be huge. The way they flip baseballs into the stands and what-not, why not keep a pitcher’s first K baseball?

Good to see the offense showing some life tonight. Yepez and Donovan are giving us a little spark.
I was a bit surprised that Whitley got the quick hook to Memphis but I am happy for Walsh. He has earned his promotion. It was a smart move by Ollie to let Jake get his feet wet in a lopsided game.

K. Robertson grounds it out to Odor at 2nd and he’ll get thrown out at 1st, but he will earn his first career rbi as Donovan scores making it 10-1 Cardinals.
