It’s Kentucky Derby Day! Assume post time is about the same time as first pitch out at Candlestick? And by the way, I live in SW Indiana. About two hours from Indianapolis and Louisville. And I have NEVER been to the Indianapolis 500 or the Kentucky Derby.

Anyway, not sure who is hurling for the Giants but I assume we will see Pujols at some point either today or in Sunday’s game.

Din-din today is a New York Strip steak in the air fryer, some jumbo crinkle cut french fries, a Mt. Dew, and a piece of Strawberry pie I brought home from the Amish restaurant yesterday. Will probably tune in to the Pirates and Reds game momentarily as they have a split DH. Curious to see what kind of crowds they have at Riverfront today.

Pirates and Reds might be a good game today Rats. Both teams look to be close so far this year. Derbys too haughty totty for me and Car Races are crowded and pricey too. Din-din will be my famous spaghetti and meat sauce. Get the game tonight on mlb extra innings tonight so I will be watching. Missed it but PUGs pbp got me caught up. Good game-Go Cardinals!

It’s a crying shame that you’ve never been to a live Kentucky Derby, Rat. Especially since it’s nearly in your own back yard. I bet the ABC cameras would zero in on Rat sipping a mint julep, while chomping on some of his famed catfish fiddlers that he smuggled in. And right next to Rat would be his “comfort animal”, WhiteyHerDog, barking like a maniac while wearing one of those big floppy hats with the fruit assortment on top. Your homemade spaghetti sounds like a winner, Wooster!

Can the Cardinals win again tonight? Of course they can. But unless they start whacking some serious hits in greater numbers it won’t be easy. They are putting tremendous burdens on the pitching staff with paltry bat work. I’d really like to see an offensive attack with a comfortable lead. Well, of course I won’t see it until it’s all over but I’d still like to read about it with my Sunday morning tea and biscuits with butter and jam. Rah Cardinals!

There will be no din-din report because today was my little village’s annual festival and community lunch which has left Madame CiF and I with no need for another meal.

Rats I’ve never been to either and I’m not far from you in the Evansville area. Went to Ball State and only made me hate the Indy area more and anything north of Bloomington, and I only stretch it to Bloomington because Assembly Hall cannot be hated.
I stayed up got to watch last night, but unfortunately will be driving to Indy soon and won’t be watching tonight. Hope they can continue the winning ways!

Reds win! Reds win! The Reds down the Pirates 9-2 in the first game of their DH. They are now 4-22 on the year. Cincinnati got seven runs in the last of the 8th. However, in the nightcap the Pirates hit three homeruns in the 1st inning and lead 4-0 heading to the bottom of the 1st.

Me and Whitey Herdog will be tuning in to this one. Our late night snack will be a large ballpark hotdog from the deli. Then another piece of the Strawberry pie from the Amish restaurant.

And it surprises me that O’Neill is hitting cleanup after last nights debacle.

Rich Strike, an extreme longshot, wins the Kentucky Derby.

And supposedly the start time is 6:15 cst and 7:15 est. But Jim Hayes is interviewing Juan Yepez at the moment. Is there a rain delay? Or a Posey delay? What time is 1st pitch?

Top of 1. Logan Webb your SF starter.

Edman walks on 4 consecutive deliveries out of the zone.

Goldy caught looking for strike 3, as Tommy E. swipes 2nd.

Arenado rifles a line base hit to right center and Edman will easily score to put the Birds on top 1-0. Yaz(rf) quickly cut that ball off to keep it from going to the wall.

O’Neill rolls it out to Estrada at 2nd and this should be two…..flips to Dubon for one and his throw to Belt at 1st will complete the double play.

Matz in immediate trouble, as the first two Giants reach via a walk and a infield single. He then walks the #3 batter(Belt) and the Cards are now in a boatload of trouble with the bases juiced with no outs. Ruf pops out to Edman at 2nd. Flores lambastes a bomb into the left field seats and just like that, the Giants leap out to a 4-1 lead

It sure was a meatball, Bling. And oh that must have felt great for Flores when he connected on it, as on those kind of wallops, you know the immediate millisecond when your bat meets the ball that it’s going vast distances…oh no…..Tommy E. with a most rare error as he just fired one about 20 feet over Goldy’s head.

Within 5 minutes of tuning in I’ve seen Matz give up a salami and Edman throw it into the dugout on a routine play. I will go find something else to do so at least we will have a chance.

Looks like Matz came in cold. Hes a better pitcher than that. Good thing we got that run first inning.

Got 2 runs back, now 4-3, as Molina and the ever-dependable PDJ each drive in a run. Game seems to moving in super slo mo.

Top of 2. Ok these folks in this region are somewhat used to be shaken up, so lets really shake them up to the tune of about 5 runs this inning.

Pez lines a sizzling grounder down the 3rd base line…..that Flores nicely gloves….no he can’t find the handle on it and has to momentarily put it in his hip pocket….. infield single.

Carlson bounces it out to Estrada at 2nd, but Pez is already near the bag at 2nd, so his only option is to fling it on over to Belt at 1st to get one out.

Bader drills a base hit to center….but Pez will have to abruptly slam on the brakes at 3rd….Birds on the corners with just one out

Yadi sharply drills it into right for a hit and Pez will carry home Yadi’s 1000th career rbi….4-2.

PDJ rifles a shot just past Estrada who was shaded up the middle and out into center for a hit …in comes Bader and it’s now a 4-3 Giants ballgame.

Edman flies out to Slater on the center field track……the sun nearly prevented Slater from hauling the ball in.

    Goldy strikes out swinging.

This Webb fellow is a big time ground ball inducer, but we’ve already hit a bunch of balls in the air off him in only 2 innings of play, so he does not have his Grade A stuff today….oh no….Dubon just plants one into the center field seats with a mate onboard for the ride….6-3 Giants…..we could be looking at a 13-9 sort of game here .
