DeJong looks clueless at the plate. If Gorman could not strike out 40% of the time in AAA, Gorman at 2B and Edman at SS would sure be nice…..

Gorman stuck out 19% of the time in AAA last year. I don’t think it’s anything other than a more aggressive approach that’s different early this year. He’ll be a Tyler O’Neill type at the MLB level, which is fine. 30% Ks and 7-8% walks sounds about right. But you can live with that if he’s hitting 30 HRs.

This game scares the daylights out of me, as this Keller could be a Cardinal killer in a game such as this. It just sets up beautifully for him to shine. But, our bats are due to kick it into high gear. I wouldn’t touch this game with a 10 foot Louisville slugger as far as betting is concerned. So I shall make a rare stance of not committing to a prediction for this evening’s affair. What’s for din-din you may ask? How about lasagna, garlic bread, Mediterranean salad and 3 Popeye’s apple cinnamon pies sound? Cardinal In France’s din-dins have been quite exotic of late. So much so that I have no idea what he’s gulping down. But we can be assured of one thing ….. whatever CIF is dining on, it’s guaranteed to be fit for the finest king in all the land.

I keep thinking today is the day mo let’s Ollie make the move on Dejong. If I see him in todays lineup I believe he is in it for the season, stats be damned.

    What’s up with Matz?

Pugs? You like those apple cinammon pies, don’t you?

Din-din today was a sirloin steak in the air fryer, some beef & noodles, a Mt. Dew, and some chocolate ice cream for dessert. No cigars after din-din today because this is probably going to be a three cigar evening for me. First I will have two during the Cards/Royals game and then another one later tonight when I tune in to the Giants and Dodgers from Dodger Stadium.

So he’s nothing more than my original assessment of Russell Branyan? Over the last couple years of his swing and leg kick being shortened I thought he would be more productive than that. 35+% K rate in AAA scares me at what kind of production he can have at the big league level.

If Gorman is striking out 35% of the time at AAA then how often is he going to strikeout at the major league level? 40 to 50%, perhaps?

    Unacceptable…….

Would this mean you think Dejong is the better option?

I don’t think bringing up Gorman is for sure the answer. Everyone is always like being up this guy and so forth and they get up here and nothing changes. They don’t hit, they get sent back down. I’m not a believer in a guy that strikes out a lot of he isn’t bringing more than the occasional home run to the table. If you want to replace Dickerson, I have zero problem. He gets at bats against major league pitching. But to plug him into a spot and make that position defensively weaker, no I’m not for that.

    What’s happened with Matz?

Naughton must have still been on the plane for Memphis when he got the recall.

Din-din chez CiF tonight was a simple chicken breasts cooked with mushrooms and cream, brown rice and a salad. A bit of ice cream was discovered in the back of the freezer, which I rescued.

    Thanks for the lineup, Bling!

“Pez” is in the house…..how sweet is that. I’ve been studying his play since his PB( that’s “Palm Beach” to the layman) days. Now we all get to watch and enjoy the majestic swing of Juan David Yepez. Wild horses couldn’t keep me from tonight’s game thread.

Looks like Cardinal In France is going Americana in the din-din department tonight. And Rat’s sirloin steak – beef noodles din-din is a true round tripper. And yes Rat, if you’ve never had an apple cinnamon pie from Popeye’s chicken, then you’ve truly not made it to 1st base yet as far as post din-din desserts are concerned. And sometimes I’ll even slap a scoop of Breyer’s vanilla or chocolate on top of them to sweeten the deal up even more. I totally equate Popeye’s apple cinnamon pies to Lays potato chips….. it’s almost impossible to eat only one of them at a sitting. Let’s play some baseball, shall we?

Bringing in Yepez for Sosa is interesting. I guess with Edman back and Donovan already here we were up one middle infielder. Hope we see him make his debut.

“Bacon wrapped stuffed chicken breast”…..I don’t know why, but that dish just does it for me tonight. I’m going to immediately check with the wifey to see if Bling’s choice of din-dins tonight can pinch hit for our planned lasagna din-din.

I may have asked before, but does the DH have to hit in place of the pitcher, or could you have your pitcher batting and your DH hitting for somebody else?

I am watching the first inning of the Reds at Milwaukee. And guess what?

FRONT ROW AMY IS BACK! SHE IS IN HER USUAL SEAT! ATTIRED IN HER USUAL ATTIRE!

But she does have a face mask on, however.
