Hopefully Hudson will be able to find the strike zone tonight. Didn’t he walk four in his last outing on Saturday at Cincinnati? The D’Backs come in having beat the Dodgers the last two days. I really think we need to win three of these four games this weekend.

Din-din today is a center cut rib chop in the microwave, some baked beans from the deli at the grocery, a piece of yellow cake with chocolate icing, and a Mt. Dew. All whilst I watch an episode of the old Ellery Queen show.

After lunch I will be out in the back yard changing the oil in the John Deere. Then doing some mowing and trimming. Then later tonight me and Whitey Herdog will be on the couch, tuning in to BSMW. No late games from the west coast to watch tonight.

No weather report requests, Rat? Looks like Rat is getting the homestead spruced up in anticipation of a looming lucrative real estate transaction. Nice din-din, Rat. I’m doing breakfast for din-din this evening, as my lesser-half won’t be home until around 8p……gotta love the freedom on those occasions. Everything is great all day long until around 7:30p rolls around. Then it’s a mad dash around the house to make things look somewhat normal again. So it’ll be 3 medium poached eggs over 2 pieces of white toast stepping up to the plate first. I won’t forget to drench the top of the eggs with melted butter, salt and pepper. On deck will be crisp Oscar Mayer center cut bacon and hash browns. I’ll top matters off with a couple chocolate Bavarian donuts and stiff coffee. While on the topic of foods, I wanted to check to see if anyone else here ingests raw garlic? Two months ago I ran across a very interesting article on garlic, which inspired me to start purchasing raw garlic from the grocery store. Every morning I have been slowly but surely nibbling down 2 garlic cloves. The taste and resulting stinging in the mouth is absolutely awful. Plus, it disgusts the wifey. One of it’s many supposed benefits is that it greatly shortens the duration and severity of colds and flu. Well, the wifey caught a doozy of a virus and was down and out for 2 weeks. I caught in all likelihood the same virus from her last week and felt awful for a day and a half with nose constantly running and a fever …..and then it mysteriously vanished. Not since a child have I recovered so quickly from a virus. I’m really excited about this. Do not get the garlic pills, as they just don’t work like raw garlic…..as the reports go.

    Lineup

    Edman
    Goldschmidt
    O’Neill
    Arenado
    Dickerson RF
    Carlson DH
    Bader
    Molina
    DeJong

I figured they’d wait to announce the lineup so the fans wouldn’t flip out so early seeing DeJong in the lineup and ONeill hitting 3rd.

We really need to win some games here and get back on track, and if we don’t do it against last-place teams, when are we going to do it? I still have great hopes for this bunch. With the exception of PDJ, with whom I have pretty much lost faith, these guys still look good on paper, but the moment is now before sub-.200 BAs become a way of life.

Tonight’s din-din was veal paupiettes (a sort of stuffed roulade), leftover baked potatoes cut up and browned in butter, and peas. Perhaps a double chocolate Magnum bar a bit later when Madame CiF isn’t looking.

Pugs: We use quite a bit of garlic in cooking here in France, and I’ve heard it said that raw garlic (ail) is effective against colds and flu. It’s also quite effective in driving your main squeeze out of the room.

Pugs? Speaking of the weather report……the Doppler Radar does indeed show some green stuff headed towards the St. Louis area. I am not a meteorologist but it appears there’s a chance this game could be delayed or possibly see delays tonight. Scattered type showers might be what’s expected.

Just got the oil changed in the John Deere and now it’s time to mow. I leave my front door open so Whitey Herdog can watch me out the front storm door.

Boys I’ve got a feeling that Dickerson is going to start hitting. We start getting some (any) production from that spot and watch the offense take off.

That’s two great benefits of raw garlic, CIF. And stuffed roulade? If just like my mother used to make, it’s marvelous.

If The Hammer says that Dickerson is right on the precipice of getting red hot, then watch him do just that. I like Hudson to deal another dandy here this evening and our Cards to prevail 7-3. “Tip” O’Neill has to be on the verge of breaking out of his power shortage real soon. He should yank at least one out of the yard tonight.

Pugs am I nuts? Like you, I feel the same way about O’Neill also. I realize that one of Dickerson’s RBI’s last night came on a swinging bunt but I think he looks good at the plate lately.

Heading home from the office. The lovely wifey said she is making a new dish for din-din, so I will check in later and let y’all know what’s on tap.

DeJong? Really? Well at least he is in the 9 spot.

According to the Doppler Radar there is a big pile of green stuff right around St. Louis. It appears to be slow moving as well.

I am afraid I am going to have to reverse Pug’s 7-3 Cardinal triumph and call this one a rainout/PPD.

If Rat is calling this one a rainout, then I’m sure the umps will be calling it a washout soon. Too bad, as I was looking forward to a fun evening here. Well, looks like it’s a night of watching “In Treatment” episodes.

    * Can’t wait to see what BicycleMike’s mystery din-din is.

Does the DH have to hit for the pitcher? Maybe he could hit for DeJong and Hudson could bat. He was 1 for 3 with a walk (.500 OBP) and a run scored in 2021.

    Game is starting on time!

However, the umbrellas have showed up in force and Danny Mac just said rain might come into play.

Sweet! We are playing. It’s not often when Rat’s keen meteorological instincts drift off base.

Hudson continues where he left off during his last start by setting the first two Diamondbacks down in quiet succession. Then he issues a free pass and then induces Walker to strike out swinging. Hudson with 22 1st inning offerings.

Bottom of 1. Castellanos dealing for AZ.

    Edman walks on 5 pitches.

Goldy dumps a short fly into center…..that will drop in for a hit and Tommy E. smartly and swiftly motors all the way around to 3rd.

O’Neill lines a laser to right, but it’s directly at the defender who’ll glove it and fire it towards home plate, but it’ll have no chance whatsoever to get the speedy Tommy Edman and St. Louis seizes a 1-0 advantage.

Arenado – On 3-2 Nolan hits a slow roller towards short where Ahmed gloves it but can’t make the easy toss to 2nd as Goldy was running on the pitch…and his throw to 1st is a late one, with Goldy moving to 3rd.

Dickerson hits it to straight away center where Varshow has a beed on it…..looks like Goldy will be tagging….. here’s the throw home….. it’s cut off and the Cards lead 2-0.

Carlson pops out to Ahmed at short
