Really nice to see Gorman with the HR tonight. That one just managed to get over the RF wall, but when he first came up to the Big League ballclub, I saw him hit at least 5 or 6 mammoth HR’s that simply exploded off of his bat. There’s no question in my mind that he possesses tremendous power potential.
September 6, 2022 at 9:27 pm #199451That was one Bader would have corralled.
September 6, 2022 at 9:32 pm #199452OK…. DP here. Let’s end it.
September 6, 2022 at 9:32 pm #199453BikeMike…Last time I checked, Bader hadn’t appeared in a game for the Yankees yet. Have you read anything about his foot injury or why it’s taking so long for him to get up to snuff? I sure haven’t.
September 6, 2022 at 9:32 pm #199454No drama-No drama!
September 6, 2022 at 9:33 pm #199455Was thinking the same thing, BicycleMike. Always think wonderful things when I hear Bader’s name lately……. because I immediately think of Montgomery.
There’s Wooster! Where have you been hiding partner?
September 6, 2022 at 9:33 pm #199456I’m starting to move lamps and end tables out of harm’s way…
September 6, 2022 at 9:35 pm #199457I have not seen anything on Bader’s situation.
Helsley laboring. Something in my gut said this was not the night to use him. He may still get it done, but it just did not feel right bringing him in. Not sure what it was – maybe that most anyone can hold a 3 run lead against a team 40 games under .500.
September 6, 2022 at 9:36 pm #199458Started to check in last night Pugs but caught it in their big inning. Wife won’t watch when she’s losing. For the best. Better tonight!

ParticipantThat’s a winner

ParticipantFrom what boone said, bader probably if all goes well, will be up by the 15th.
September 6, 2022 at 9:39 pm #199461Glad I’d taken my BP med today.
That last out called for it.
September 6, 2022 at 9:39 pm #199462Nice win…I have to expect a team this good to take the next 2 from DC.
GO REDBIRDS!
September 6, 2022 at 9:39 pm #199463Helsley lookin like a real closer. Gormans bat wakes up! Donivan dinger and good pitching makes a Winner! Go Cardinals!
Beat those pesky Gnats!September 6, 2022 at 9:44 pm #199464I’m not even concerned with MIL at the moment. The Redbird win tonight lifts them to 5 games behind both ATL and NY, who are now tied for the lead in the NLE.
September 6, 2022 at 9:57 pm #199465I made a mistake. I thought I looked at a final in the ATL/OAK game, but they’re still playing. At any rate, the Mets lost to the Pirates and that means the Cardinals are only 5 games off the pace for the 2nd seed in the NL regardless of the outcome of the Braves game. Man, I need more coffee to keep up with all these post-season possibilities…
September 6, 2022 at 9:59 pm #199466Nice win. Good to see Gorman contribute.
Great call on Mike Schmidt earlier 1TD. He was really good. And great on defense as well. Had a swagger about him too. Maybe the greatest third baseman of all time.
September 6, 2022 at 10:13 pm #199467BikeMike…I think if you combine both the glove and the bat, you’re right. You can’t really make much of an argument that anyone was better than Mike Schmidt at 3B. And in my view, he was the most intimidating hitter of that era in either league. I know from practical experience that he used to absolutely murder the Redbirds for a long time.
September 6, 2022 at 10:49 pm #199470Rockies trailed 5-1 against Milwaukee and they forced extra innings. Colorado wins it 10-7 on a walkoff three run dinger in the last of the 10th.
Back to 8.5 games!!!
Back to watching Emergency now, and back to my cigar…….

stlcard25ParticipantGood recap, gents…glad to see the Cards get the win. It’s too bad that Corbin won’t be going in this series…it would be a good chance to get Albert another dinger. He’s running out of lefties to face at this point.

ParticipantRats… you failed to mention that the walk-off homer was a 457ft winner by Grichuk.
