Carlson seems to be in the doghouse now, at least against righties.
August 26, 2022 at 4:00 pm #197756The Redbird manager has sure been affording Carlson a lot of idle time lately. Wasn’t too long ago that I saw a couple of articles in the local paper that proclaimed DC as a fixture in CF with the departure of Bader.
August 26, 2022 at 4:02 pm #197757gscottar…Our baseball minds are wired with identical circuitry.
August 26, 2022 at 4:06 pm #197758I agree TD…..Mo gave Carlson a public vote of approval at the deadline and Dylan has responded by going 193/273/307/580 the last month.
August 26, 2022 at 4:21 pm #197760Without question, this is going to be a tough series against a team that is improved and playing even better than the last time the Redbirds faced them in which they lost 3 games of the 4 game set in Atl. Of course, the Cardinals are a much different and vastly improved ballclub that’s playing like a team that’s ready to assert themselves as one of the best in the Big Leagues, which I believe they are. Obviously, I’m hoping some payback will ensue this weekend vs. the Braves. We’ll see what happens.
August 26, 2022 at 4:33 pm #197761gscottar…Yep, I like DC. At 23, he’s one of the youngest guys on this ballclub and his overall natural talent is perfectly obvious. Without question, he deserves a chance to develop that talent with a reasonable amount of playing time. But if he’s going to be an everyday CF’er for a talented and contending ballclub, he’s going to have to hit.
August 26, 2022 at 5:19 pm #197762If things go wrong that lineup after Dickerson can really rack up some strike outs. Hopefully things go right.
August 26, 2022 at 5:31 pm #197763Bling…I saw Strider K’d 12 in 6 IP the first time he faced the Cardinals so, yeah, I’d say so. Better choke up with 2 strikes…
August 26, 2022 at 5:38 pm #197764The hot streak has gotten Dickerson into the cleanup spot.
Those ‘57 Braves were a run team to play in APBA. You had great up the middle defense with Crandall, Red, Johnny Logan, and then Billy Bruton in center. Hank had a great year and played some center field as well.
But the most fun card was Hurricane Hazel. There is a name for you. Sometimes I think the late ‘50s were the peak as far as American life goes. Things started to go downhill soon after, starting with President Kennedy’s assassination.

ParticipantDelighted to see Tommy Edman SS. DeJug can’t hit a bull in the butt with a bass fiddle.
August 26, 2022 at 5:57 pm #197766Yeah, DeJong is not the answer at shortstop. Cards should have been playing Sosa there all year. But maybe Romero will be a good addition. Meanwhile they need to address shortstop this off season. Maybe play Tommy there the rest of the season and see if he can handle it. Would open second for Gorman full time too. Plus maybe Donovan now and then.
August 26, 2022 at 6:23 pm #197768They’re good, but far from unbeatable. Time to gain revenge from our last series in Georgia. I like us to come away with all smiles and a 7-4 victory later on this evening. And when is Gorman going to get off the proverbial schneid? He’s too good for this. Everytime he gets that second strike on him, the ump may as well just ring up twice on just the one pitch, because he’s going down on strikes. And once again, Gorman is better than that……kick it into gear kid!
August 26, 2022 at 6:35 pm #197769Hey, Pugs…Looks like Helsley’s back. I’m wondering if his new daughter gave him a lift to the ballpark? Haha!
August 26, 2022 at 7:00 pm #197771I asked this the other day because I’m not entirely certain of the exact formula used for the GG awards, but will the shuttling of Eddie between the two middle IF positions hamper his chances to be awarded another GG for his defensive performance in the’22 season? If so, it’s a shame because I think he should be fitted for another one.
August 26, 2022 at 7:11 pm #197774I am thinking that if a guy does not play full time at a particular position, he is likely not going to take home any gold.
Man, another Cardinal baby on the way.
Din-din tonight is spaghetti, with the sauce including home grown tomatoes, another home grown tomato sliced with Dorothy Lynch dressing on it, and grilled cheese sandwich with Swiss as the cheese of choice on this one, and a cold, frosty one to wash it down. It’s Friday so we usually either hit a brew pub and have food truck fare, or (in nice weather, which it is) have our own happy hour with a beer and din-din on the patio or deck.
August 26, 2022 at 7:17 pm #197775Funny, TD!! Let’s hope this game is a laugher too….. we’re very capable of drilling these guys tonight.
Sweet din-din, BicycleMike! I guess you’re the only one weighing in with a din-din tonight.
August 26, 2022 at 7:18 pm #197776BikeMike…Yeah, I remember Schildt moved him around some in ’21, but I don’t recall it being as much as this season. Boy, I sure do miss those HG’n tomatoes, but I just don’t have the energy to go to war with the squirrels and rabbits anymore.
August 26, 2022 at 7:19 pm #197777Pugs…Haha! I stole that joke from you…That was a good one!
August 26, 2022 at 7:23 pm #197780Home grown tomatoes are the best! We have the kids do a lot of the work in the garden these days. A couple of our kids are especially passionate about gardening – they really get into it. As long as we have beer around on the hot weekends, they come over and work in the garden and yard.
I have a sweet audio system with a couple of Bose speakers on the patio, so I get the tunes going and it is a big party, where a lot of work gets done as well.
August 26, 2022 at 7:29 pm #197781The Q man looks good so far.
Din-din was egg foo young.
August 26, 2022 at 7:37 pm #197784BikeMike…You got it made! I can eat a good HG’n tomato for dessert. We had a pretty nice vegetable garden for quite a few years, but as you know, it requires some time and effort for a nice pay-off. Mrs. 1TD still tends a real nice flower garden, but I try to dodge as much work as I possibly can and limit it to cutting the grass and keeping from falling off the roof when I have to clean the gutters…
August 26, 2022 at 7:44 pm #197785Looks to be a good OF assist, but youneverknow.
August 26, 2022 at 7:44 pm #197786Looks like Hot Isn’t as pitcher didn’t throw anything below center of zone yet
Mostly upper 90s fastballs and middle 80s sliders so far. Throws above the zone to get a chase so far.
Din-din was London Broil- wedding (mixed veg) soup and Italian Garden Pasta. Not sure about rh Albert against this guy but he is a fastball hitter. Should be good for Gorman and Dickerson.
Go Cardinals!August 26, 2022 at 7:45 pm #197787Nice! Would have hated to not only have runners at the corners, but also to lose the challenge this early in the ballgame.
August 26, 2022 at 7:51 pm #197788Strider’s put together not at all unlike Tom Seaver.
