Won’t Helsley’s Sunday availability depend on how efficient his ninth is?
August 12, 2022 at 10:07 pm #195264Little ground ball to an IF’er should help.
August 12, 2022 at 10:07 pm #195265K!
August 12, 2022 at 10:08 pm #195266Up to 25 pitches now for Helsley. Not liking this too much. He’s been laboring some. Not real crisp, although he blows away Urias.
August 12, 2022 at 10:08 pm #195267Did Dan just mention Al “Little Jax” Jackson??
August 12, 2022 at 10:10 pm #195268Nice ballgame!
August 12, 2022 at 10:10 pm #195269Helsley threw 29 pitches, 22 for strikes while getting the final six outs and his 12th save.
August 12, 2022 at 10:11 pm #195270Whew, took 29 pitches from Helsley, but that is a winner! Big win!!
August 12, 2022 at 10:11 pm #195271Monty was great tonight.
August 12, 2022 at 10:12 pm #1952726 out save on 29 pitches for Helsley. He can go 2 more innings tomorrow if needed…
August 12, 2022 at 10:12 pm #195273That 22 strikes is the key. When you keep the ball in the zone, usually good things happen.
Who will Mike’s guests be on Live at Shannon’s? Man, that was a good post game show when Mike did that after Friday night games.

jj-cf-stlParticipantWell pitched game.
August 12, 2022 at 10:14 pm #195275I checked Helsley’s game logs. He threw 26 pitches over 2 1/3 innings on July 7 and came back on July 9 and threw an inning/14 pitches. But there aren’t a lot of similar examples. My guess is if it is down to winning the series and he is ok physically, we’ll see him Sunday.

ParticipantWell had grandson today so wasn’t able to watch. Good win, more than likely won’t see helsley tomorrow so hopefully we have a nice cushion.
August 12, 2022 at 10:21 pm #195277Bike Mike…Yeah, those Live at Shannon’s were good. I particularly recall one with Cepeda and McCarver. I would have hated like heck to get the bar tab…
August 12, 2022 at 10:29 pm #195280Yeah, some of those shows were classics. That was really in Mike in his element. He was good teaming with Jack on the broadcasts, but not as good as the lead guy. But sitting around the bar telling stories about baseball was his true gift.
August 12, 2022 at 10:30 pm #195281Congrats ‘82!,
August 12, 2022 at 10:36 pm #195283Did enough to win but it was all long ball.0 for 5 with RISP. Really not there yet. Got to give this one to pitching. Nooty’s really looking like a gamer. Bunting his way on. Base hits against same side pitchers. Stealing bases.
Thanks Goldy and Nado for the dingers. The rest need to pick it up.
Go Cardinals!August 12, 2022 at 11:01 pm #195284Missed the game, but the pitching must’ve been very good. Quintana and Montgomery pickups are looking great so far, although Stratton not so much. Good on Mo for strengthening the weak link.
August 12, 2022 at 11:15 pm #19528680 game susp. for Tatis Jr. Not too smart.
August 12, 2022 at 11:38 pm #1952871982 willie
ParticipantI hadn’t heard that about Tatis jr. What are these players thinking? Just hurting your team.
August 13, 2022 at 4:58 am #195290Congrats on the new grandchild, ’82.
