Good AB for DC. Inches away from xBh
April 5, 2021 at 6:00 pm #157068Patience is paying off. 4vwalks. Hopefully Ponce is staying Loose.
April 5, 2021 at 6:01 pm #157069Dean was trying to make it 6-0. I would have settled for 4-0
April 5, 2021 at 6:01 pm #157070Way to be, Yadi!! 2 run double and it’s 3-0 Cards
THAT is why I want Paul after Yadi in the order!April 5, 2021 at 6:06 pm #157072Need a shutdown inning. A k is a good way to start.
April 5, 2021 at 6:10 pm #157073I think a big key to this start for Ponce is to throw strikes and trust his defense.
April 5, 2021 at 6:11 pm #157074At least we got a walk and run scored out of our outfield to go along with the 2 strike outs.
April 5, 2021 at 6:14 pm #157076Good start for Ponce.. let’s continue to be patient, wait for pitches we can put in play and see what happens. Go Cardinals!
April 5, 2021 at 6:16 pm #157077That was a ball to 1-8 hitters
April 5, 2021 at 6:17 pm #157078I think Tommy will have a good series… but sometimes you have to tip your hat to the defense.
April 5, 2021 at 6:19 pm #157079Did Ponce throw a single off speed pitch?
April 5, 2021 at 6:21 pm #157080Hammer. I think Ponce is just trusting what Yadi is putting down
April 5, 2021 at 6:26 pm #157081Indians announcer was saying earlier that he picked the Cardinals to win the Central until he saw our rotation. You know that was a knock on Ponce and Gant. I’m sure there are other so called experts that feel the same way. As long as their in the rotation… they need to prove them wrong.
April 5, 2021 at 6:30 pm #157082Ponce’s pitch count is getting up there. Likely to be 40 even if he gets this last out in the 2nd.
April 5, 2021 at 6:50 pm #157083With an off day Friday, I’d let Ponce go as long as he’s getting outs. Our BULLPEN needs the rest. Looking good thru 3 so far.
April 5, 2021 at 6:51 pm #157084Did Ponce throw a single off speed pitch?
The Marlins announcers are saying that the miss rate on his curve is only 12%, and the miss rate on his fastball is 45%
April 5, 2021 at 6:56 pm #157085Rogers has seemed to settle down and found a groove. Good thing we got those runs in the first. Keep getting those outs.
April 5, 2021 at 7:02 pm #157086That double by Anderson was brought to you exclusively by the Bader injury. No way that gets down if he’s in CF.
April 5, 2021 at 7:03 pm #157087David: Rogers has seemed to settle down and found a groove. Good thing we got those runs in the first. Keep getting those outs.
You are correct, sir!
April 5, 2021 at 7:25 pm #157092I see we now have 3 guys hitting over .250. Goldy, NA and Yadi. The huddled masses need to man up. Any time now would be fine. PDL looks impressive on the mound.
April 5, 2021 at 7:29 pm #157093BB – SS and OF. Achilles heels. 0 for 8 tonight so far with 5 Ks.
April 5, 2021 at 7:31 pm #157094Ponce playing with fire in the 5th. This is the danger time for him. He needs to keep the Cards ahead by at least 3.
April 5, 2021 at 7:42 pm #157095Ponce limits the Marlins to that one run, and the Cards keep a 3 run lead.
April 5, 2021 at 7:49 pm #157096Nice outing.
April 5, 2021 at 8:30 pm #157097Man, it is easy to see why Arenado is a step above the typical Cardinal hitter. He more consistently swings at good pitches. It seems we have had 10 years of guys like Grichuk, Bader, and recently Carpenter and even DeJong who take a lot of good pitches, then flail at pitches out of the zone.
The other thing, Arenado keeps his head down and eyes right on the ball. Watching Carp pinch hit tonight, his head was looking away and not following the ball to the bat.
Basic stuff.
