stlcard25ParticipantHelsley gets a K, grounder, walk and another grounder to get through the 5th. Still 2-1.
May 5, 2021 at 6:08 pm #160253
stlcard25ParticipantStroman looking locked in right now. He strikes out his 4th and 5th in a row in Carlson and Goldy. Looks like the bullpen will have to be perfect cause the offense may have checked out for the game.

stlcard25ParticipantLindor with a poor throw and Arenado gets on after the error. Will Met Killer Dejong make them pay??
May 5, 2021 at 6:13 pm #160255
jj-cf-stlParticipanter-uh, YES!
May 5, 2021 at 6:14 pm #160256
stlcard25ParticipantHome run Dejong!!! That a boy, Paul!
4-1 Cards.
May 5, 2021 at 6:16 pm #160257
stlcard25ParticipantIn another rare event…Tyler O’Neill takes a walk. Bader keep it rolling??
May 5, 2021 at 6:29 pm #160258
stlcard25ParticipantGallegos with the 1-2-3 6th. 4-1 still.
May 5, 2021 at 6:38 pm #160259
stlcard25ParticipantStill 4-1 as we enter the 7th. Looks like Reyes will come in.
May 5, 2021 at 6:40 pm #160260Small sample theatre: Williams and Sosa look overmatched.
May 5, 2021 at 6:42 pm #160262
stlcard25ParticipantCame on a pitch in the 5th that he fouled off his leg.
Per Cards: Dylan Carlson removed with a right shin contusion. #STLCards

stlcard25ParticipantReyes gets a grounder to start the 7th, follower by a K and a grounder to Goldy to finish it off!!
Cards win it and go to 18-12. Nice work!!
May 5, 2021 at 6:45 pm #160264I would have gone with Whitely with the 3 run lead, and kept Reyes ready. Whitely should be able to protect a 3 run lead. Then you would have Alex available for game 2.
May 5, 2021 at 7:24 pm #160272
jj-cf-stlParticipantAlex didn’t throw very many pitches. You think he will be available in game 2?
May 5, 2021 at 7:29 pm #160273No we will not see Reyes again tonight. It’s not just the pitch count, but having him go thru the entire warm-up regimen twice, sperated by only a few hours, may be a bit risky with his injury history.
May 5, 2021 at 8:18 pm #160289Shildt was no doubt influenced by the low 20% probability of winning two (really 10% since there are two tails), and decided to go for the bird in hand. You have to stop giving this inside information away for free.
May 5, 2021 at 8:30 pm #160294I hear you, So_Cal. Just for you, 30% off your monthly fee starting June 1st. All kidding aside, predicting baseball games is literally taking candy from a sleeping baby. You just can’t go crazy, prognosticating (betting) games that you have no business doing. Like most things, discipline rules
