gscottar – Is that the same McFarland who this season has had a 5.25 ERA for the AAA Rochester Wings and a 4.65 ERA for AAA Memphis Redbirds?
It is the McFarland who with St. Louis is 2-0, 2.40 ERA, and 1.067 WHIP.

ParticipantCome on, gscottar. Look at his ERA with the Diamondbacks and
Athletics in 2019 and 2020. And his total career ERA since he first appeared in the majors in 2013. He’s nothing but a journeyman reliever.August 19, 2021 at 10:21 am #170174Today's commercial for automated ball and strike calling. Honestly, how could it be worse? https://t.co/iUGs44NB6J

August 19, 2021 at 10:27 am #170175I did have rooms in Milwaukee for the Labor day weekend. Please cancel, we’ll go somewhere else for the weekend.
August 19, 2021 at 11:52 am #170179Last night’s loss was frustrating to say the least. IMO, it points out that the Cardinals roster is not constructed to compete with the top teams in the league. To this point, they have lost their last five home games played against “playoff teams” (Atlanta and Milwaukee). This at a time where you need players to step up.
The team’s starting line up is at least two bats shy of a good offense (two players that can get on base at a .350 clip or better). The bench is almost devoid of anyone who can hit consistently at the major league level. The pitching staff is using a number of players acquired off the scrap heap to cover holes created by injury or lack of action in the off-season by the Front Office.
Barring a miracle, I cannot see this club making the playoffs. The will continue to batter weak clubs and struggle against good clubs thru the end of the season.

August 19, 2021 at 12:18 pm #170183But the Cardinals are an organization of limited resources, who try to win within a strict budget.
Same can be said for the Brewers.
August 19, 2021 at 12:33 pm #170186Last night’s loss was not very frustrating for me. The math is very straightforward.
For the first two months of the season, Reyes had an ERA of zero. Now it is 2.5. Therefore, his ERA over the last two and a half months has been 4.0, can you dig it?
Yes, I know he hasn’t blown many saves, it what about the blown tie games? Or the times he has been hit hard, but escaped with a save? Time to give him a couple weeks off, before he destroys the remainder of the season.

I don’t care what he did in 2019. We are trying to win games now and need to use the players who give us the best chance now.

ParticipantMcFarland is a disaster waiting to happen every time he goes to the mound. His history proves it.
