Arenado was the big bat there. Needed one run not three. Swung at a ball. Definitely one you take, strike or not.
Those pop ups were killers- they need to get creative when they get a chance to score. Jeeze man they’re only baseball players over there.
I will ask again…. Is anyone really surprised we scored no runs that inning even after 2 on and 1 out.
At this stage, nothing shocks us about our boys of 2021 summer, David. Even so, we’ll still love them…..though I think a healthy dose of tough love is in order.
I really like the way this Garcia has pitched. 7 straight scoreless outings. As hard as he throws, and if he can throw strikes, he could be a good middle innings guy, or setup guy.

But their pitching has been a little bit better so far. Kind of how it breaks down. Sure we were hitting coming in but it’s the difference between playing teams like the royals vs upper echelon teams.
If there are no playoffs this year, we can look at our first 7 games against the Cubs and Brewers. 2-12 is a dismal record.

We get to face two more Ace’s in this series. It goes without saying that any club fortunate enough to have not one….not two….but three Ace’s, is a serious threat to go the distance. This start was Waino’s 350th with the Birds. Only 21 other pitchers have logged 350 starts with the same team. Our Cards have four of them now…..a couple of Bob’s(Gibson & Forsch) and a Jesse(Haines) being the others. Next year’s Field of Dreams game will not feature our Cardinals once again, with the Reds and cubs getting the nod.
