RHP Jake Woodford (2-2, 4.25) vs. RHP Bailey Ober (1-1, 5.19)
FOX Sports 1//KMOX//WIJRJuly 30, 2021 at 10:22 pm #168370In case anybody is interested Joey Votto hit a homerun tonight against the Mets. He has now homered in seven straight games. He goes for the tie tomorrow night. Dale Long, Don Mattingly, and Ken Griffey are the only others to accomplish the feat.

July 30, 2021 at 10:30 pm #168372I bet if Joey were facing either of these two hurlers slated to go in this game, #8 would be pretty much in the bag. But actually Woody has been decent of late. I like him to spin another quality game here, giving our Birds an 8-4 triumph.
July 31, 2021 at 1:53 am #168381My money is on Jake Woodforx.
July 31, 2021 at 6:58 am #168390Anything of note on the din-din docket for Cardinal In France on this fine end-of-July Saturday? The shortage of seafood has me contemplating grabbing some king crab legs and having my lovely wifey cook them up. I used to love Red Lobster, but if you really think about it, their seafood is really nothing to write home about. But those din-din biscuits of their’s might just warrant a letter home to dear ole’ mom. Go Birds!
July 31, 2021 at 7:20 am #168393When do we get to see the new old guys? I am tired of the old new guys.
July 31, 2021 at 7:27 am #168394Lester was slated to deal in today’s Nats game, so I bet we’ll see him tomorrow, Bling.
July 31, 2021 at 7:55 am #168398The sooner the better Pugs, he’s not getting any younger.
July 31, 2021 at 11:12 am #168409I, too, am eagerly awaiting the first appearance of Jon Lester on our side, inflicting serious pain on the other guys for a change. I hope it comes in Sunday’s day game so I can watch it in real time, though I note Waino is slated.
As for din-din Pugs, this is the last week before the grandkids’ return to Texas and by popular demand I am making crêpes, starting with savories – bacon, cheese, salmon, chicken, etc. and finishing with sweet stuff, honey, sugar, jam, fruit, etc. Salad optional. Next week blessed silence returns.
July 31, 2021 at 11:45 am #168418I have nephews from Texas. If I suggested crepes they would look at me funny.
July 31, 2021 at 11:57 am #168422Pugs, my family and I are going to Red Lobster tonight to celebrate my mother in law’s birthday. We always go there for a birthday. I will eat a few biscuits for you. 🙂
July 31, 2021 at 11:58 am #168423Well, these Texas kids turn up their noses when I make enchiladas. Go figure.
July 31, 2021 at 1:31 pm #168426One thing the Cards do have going for them that perhaps might be in their favor is the fact that Milwaukee finishes the season with three games at Dodger Stadium. It’s their only trip of the year to Dodger Stadium, the last three games of the year.
Those will probably be meaningful games for the Dodgers. Hopefully they will be for the Brewers as well.

July 31, 2021 at 1:40 pm #168427Crepes and enchiladas are both solid choices. Crepes also bring up a nice memory for me, and also a thought of the legendary Stan Musial. Years ago, we took a team to play in a Little League tournament for several days in Kutno, Poland. The facility was very nice and the main field was named Stan Musial Stadium. The Man was an active promoter of baseball in Poland. Anyway, the small hotel we stayed at served crepes in the morning and most of the boys didn’t know what they were — but they were fast leaners. The chef couldn’t cook the crepes as fast as those boys could eat them.

ParticipantI don’t understand putting bader behind molina. I understand they aren’t going to be on base together everytime but molina is just a big base clog for guys with wheels behind them. If molina was on base ahead of bader last night, he doesn’t score that run, heck molina may not have scored. In my mind put molina higher or lower.

jj-cf-stlParticipantGet too much lower and he’s on base in front of a bunting pitcher. Not a good recipe, and Shildt wouldn’t “disrespect” him batting 8th.
It would have to be batting second imo, and I also don’t like him in the O’Neill, Bader, Edman rabbit zone.July 31, 2021 at 6:26 pm #168440
jj-cf-stlParticipantArenados error scores and the inning should be over, 0-0.
July 31, 2021 at 6:30 pm #168441Put him in front of DeJong, it won’t matter.
July 31, 2021 at 6:32 pm #168442
jj-cf-stlParticipant7th would give you a good rbi contact hitter behind good speed.
July 31, 2021 at 6:32 pm #168443CIF, Euro, I make pancakes from scratch and don’t measure anything so sometimes they turn out thin. I put butter and maple syrup on them. Does that count as a crepe? What if I fold it in half?
July 31, 2021 at 6:47 pm #168447Bling thats how IHop makes them. Willie and jj I’d put him 7 hole too he is a good rbi hitter.
July 31, 2021 at 6:52 pm #168448Cube steaks again and loaded potato soup at my house tonight! Yum-yum!

ParticipantWell oneil and bader striking out this inning. Oneil just watched a fastball go by and bader takes a very hittable second strike then swings at a high third pitch. it’s why he can’t take two strikes in an at bat, really no one should unless you are a great hitter. Now edman strikes out. Sad
