Well, that was fruitless. Hopefully someone is able to get the last three outs. Is it Helsley? I don’t trust him but he’s due for a good outing.
Reyes hits 100 on his last pitch, and Polanco still hits it deep. Luckily, Carlson is able to snare it. Helsley in.
Not sure why you throw 3 straight balls in the dirt there. Makes no sense when you need one out. Winning run is now at the plate.
Are the Pirates challenging the count? There is a first – have never seen that, although I did think there was one more ball.
You’ve got to be kidding. Dejong with the junk throw to give the Pirates a chance. Remember last year when Dejong’s awful throws costs the Cards two games in September?
Helsley can’t find the zone now. Walks Bell. Now the Pirates can win it with a hit from their catcher, who already has two hits today.
I think Helsley just lost it mentally with the botched play. I’ll be surprised if he finds a way to get this done.
That was lucky. What a horrid game. Like I said, these are two equal teams with the Cardinals being completely out of gas at this point.
Holy cow. DeJong is saved from wearing the goat horns in that one. Helsley did not fool anyone, but the batted balls were right at defenders.
