    The defense has let Carlos down this inning, and he’s obliged by doing all he can to let the Pirates back into the game. The tying run comes to the plate.

    Martinez’ command is not the best, but his pitches have a lot of movement. Looks like he has no-hit stuff, but he cannot consistently keep the ball in the zone.

    Whoa, two errors in the inning lead to 3 unearned runs. Bucs climb back in it, but we let them.

    Carlos did not close the door, but could have been out of the inning scoreless with better defense.

    The defense has been a mess today but CMart’s performance is also a reminder why he doesn’t need to be the closer. Every inning is a high wire act. Ulcer city.

    This is what teams running on fumes look like. Shildt needs to stop lying and pretending that it’s not the case. The Pirates and Cardinals are about equal teams in this state, which is saying something.

    Those errors may hurt us more than just allowing runs, as we would have been able to ride Martinez longer in this one. Now we go to the ‘pen in the fourth inning of game one.

    With Carlson rejoining the team perhaps we have seen the last of the Edman in OF experiment. Tommy’s defense at 3B isn’t that great either but I would rather see him there instead of the OF, and for more than one reason. The more 3B he plays the fewer at bats Carp gets which makes it less likely his 2022 option will vest.

    Now Moran is battling. These guys are destroying our bullpen. Is anyone even going to be left for game 2?

    Thankfully Reyes finally gets the K. But these last two guys chewed up 15 pitches.
