    45 minutes after Game 1
LHP Austin Gomber (0-0, 0.53, tentative) vs. TBA
    FS Midwest // KMOX

Monday update: Based on news of Johan Oviedo’s progress and the use of Gomber in relief in Game 1, this start is looking more like the return of Oviedo from the IL.

Tuesday update: Brent Suter (2-0, 3.52) is expected to get the ball for Milwaukee.

Oliver Marmol will manage Game 2 as he did during the closing innings last night following Shildt’s ejection.

    MLB announcement

St. Louis Cardinals manager Mike Shildt has received a one-game suspension and an undisclosed fine for actions that contributed to inciting the benches-clearing incident in the bottom of the fifth inning of his Club’s game against the Milwaukee Brewers at Miller Park on Tuesday night. Chris Young, Major League Baseball’s Senior Vice President of Baseball Operations, made the announcement.

Shildt’s suspension will be served during the second game of today’s doubleheader as these two Clubs continue their series in Milwaukee.

Shildt gets a game more for defending his players than any player got for blatantly destroying the integrity of the game in the Astro and Red Sox pitch stealing scandals. Seems fair.

    Keys for the game:

Score early and often and take pressure off of Oviedo.
Have Oviedo give 4-5 decent to good innings.

Miller at 3B. I guess they must not like Oviedo very much.

The key to this all important game will be 34 year old Oliver James Marmol, and the buttons he push.

Man, bad start. Three batters, three runs.

But I see Hammerin’ Hank at the game. That’s one bright spot. One of my favorite all-time players.

Well, this is not the start we needed. Should have saved that bean ball for that piece of excrement Braun.

DH Miller drops the pop up after over running the ball. Sigh

Wieters looks like a high school catcher back there. Knizner can’t possibly be worse with the glove or the bat, can he?

Miller looking like a beer league softball player on that. Now a passed ball. So far this one is ugly.

Oviedo keeps the ball down and Gyorko was not close, then puts one where he can hammer it. The passed ball cost and the missed foul ball cost us a run, and Oviedo some pitch count.

28 pitches in the first for Oviedo and he trails 4-0. Gonna have to outslug the Brewers in this one, looks like.

That’s a funny looking windup Suter has.

Our lineup feels like it has multiple automatic outs this year no matter what lineup you throw out there. We really miss Dexter Fowler and having some semblance of Matt Carpenter show up.

Heck of a play by Paul Dejong there.

DeJong likely saves a run. Yelich bails our Oviedo by swinging at a terrible pitch.

Dejong looked awful that at bat. Let the good pitches go and swung at the junk balls. It’s like the Cards think they can get the 4 run homer with one man on base.

Now Goldy looks like a single A hitter too. This guy is a lefty Kyle Hendricks.

Goldy trying to top Yelich, swing at a pitch way out of the zone.

Here we go with this gigantic zone again. These umps need to be sent home after this series. That was clearly a call after the catcher whined about the call he didn’t get.

Miller has an odd approach, as he does not really step in to the pitch, but sort of sweeps at the ball. Yet he generates good power.
