The Cardinals improve to 19-17 with the 12-2 win in Game 1.

Delighted to see the 7th, 8th, and 9th place hitters for the Cards go 4 out of 10 and contribute to the offense. It would be great if they can keep it up.

For some reason, most likely me, the TIVO failed to start recording when the game started but I noticed it at about 1:35 and got it going. I think it was in the 4th inning that the HPU really stood out when he called a couple of balls throw under the snakes belly as strikes but it was against the Tigers so no worry but he was definitely guessing on the low strikes. Cards got their mojo going in this one and the Tigers looked like their mojo had moved out long ago. To me people like Miggy Cabrera emulate what is wrong with the DH batter system. Just old and slow and can still hit a baseball. Just no strategy involved in these games when it comes to the pitcher. We all know the death knell has sounded for the NL on the designated hitter. Now to see if the Cards can pull off another sweep. Would be sweet to sweep.

16-0 when scoring 5 runs or more. Hat-tip to Ravelo, Yadi and O’Neill
