Soft tossing Hendricks. Isnt it about time we lit him up, scored about 7-8 off of him the first 3-4 innings? Could we possibly take 4 of 5???

Rat, if they could leave Chicago only a half game back, I would be one happy Cards Fan In Chi! Hendricks is tough, if Oviedo can keep it close, I’d bet on the Cards bullpen all day long. Reyes and Cabrera were a happy glimpse of their potential last night.

Good luck guessing the rotation for 2021. I would not want that job.

The good news is that there will be plenty of good arms to choose from. It’s possible some guys may be auditioning as trade chips for the off-season.

Now imagine if they hadn’t made that trade that’s looking like one of the worst of Mo’s tenure when he traded two of the currently better young starters in the NL for Ozuna. We got basically nothing from that trade.

Basically nothing? The Cards got two years of Ozuna’s services, one of which they reached the NL Championship Series. They also got Alec Burleson, about whom the jury will be out for some time.

The Cubs have to be looking over their shoulders a bit thinking this must be deja vu from last year when we blew by them in September. The Cubs started this year 13-3 but are just 10-15 since. Their rotation consists of Darvish, Hendricks, and a bunch of question marks. The big three of Rizzo, Bryant, and Baez have produced very little. Their MVP’s have been Happ, Heyward, and the astute signing of Jeffress. The Cubs are beatable.

The problem the Cards have is that all of these upcoming doubleheaders are going to be brutal. Despite our pitching depth we will face some negative exposure. Eventually we will have to put some low experience pitchers in high leverage situations and hope they come through. I am talking about guys like Elledge, Kaminsky, Crismatt, and others. We can’t hide them forever. There are too many innings to cover. This will make it difficult to continue racking up victories but these Cardinals are a resilient bunch.

Down 1-0 after one inning. Need to get the bats working against Hendricks. Cannot let him be a Cardinal killer.

Oviedo has had an avg of 2 runs of support, per 27 outs, his first 3 GS. Yah, run support would be a nice change.

At this point, you need Oviedo to give you at least 90 pitches and hold it to a three run deficit.
