Hoping for a momentum shift here!
Two on, nobody out again. Can the Cards get at least a run here?
Two straight batters single to the opposite field. Let’s see if Goldy fares better at moving things along.
Goldy gets one belt high and whiffs. Miller up now. Is it in the Cards’ heads? Alzolay is a nice prospect but not that great.
Bases loaded, one out. Can the Cards get at least one here?
Nice at bat by Miller. Bases are loaded with one out. Can Dejong use that warning track power from last night to drive in a run?
Gift there by the Cubs defensively.
Cards catch a break and score!
Dejong grounds into a double play…whoops, Rizzo can’t catch the relay to first and the Cards tie it up.
Need to make them pay here … need Carp to deliver here.
Alzolay walks Molina to load the bases for the guy who loves these situations.
Carp needs to bust this open. He is Mr. Wrigley.
Wanted no part of Molina…..that’s what they think of LHB next up. Smith Bro’s can get a walk with best of them to ruin the plan.
Another run on a bases loaded walk! Need to add on!
Carp walks. 2-1 Cards. Now Dylan Carlson, who has had a ton of these chances early in his career. The Cubs will go to their bullpen.
Alzolay out of gas. Could have implications for game 2 also.
If they had a hall of fame for drawing walks, Carp would be in on the first ballot.
Go Cards.
Carlson will get about 5 change ups here. Maybe he can connect with one of them.
Carlson managed to hit the ball, but right at Heyward so the bases are stranded loaded.
Tepera apparently doesn’t throw change ups. That is good news. Carlson gets good wood on it but right at Heyward.
On the replay, it looked like Hoerner’s throw pulled Rizzo off the bag. As it was high and towards home plate. Rizzo could not hold on to the throw to boot. It is not scored as an error on Game Day.
3 day weekend…..STL @ CHC….double header….probably SUN night game? Better than 90 Day Fiancée re-runs.
Agreed. Looked like throwing error to me, especially since Miller ran wide.
