Oviedo, 43 pitches, 2 IP, could use a quick inning
The Cards with a very quick 1-2-3 in the 3rd. Seems rare that they don’t battle and force the pitchers to work lately.
Nice play by Carp and a Goldy.
Yadi goes yard, 2-1 good guys!
pair of doubles plates another!
Good at bat by Wong! Drives in the second run of the inning.
Bader might’ve caught that. Put him in coach.
Oviedo was OK tonight. Better strikeout stuff, but the homer was a downer. Looks like it will be up to the bullpens. Hopefully the Reds will blink.
Mahle throws nothing high but fastballs, and the Cards are all too eager to swing away at them way up out of the zone. Need to stop that habit. This guy isn’t that good.
When Genesis Cabrera is on with his stuff, he’s nearly unhittable. He was a mix there in the 6th, but he gets out without a run.
Mahle just grooved one and Yadi barely missed it, flying out to the wall.
C’mon, Carp. Do something.
Carpenter is showing his frustration now. He needs to sit a few days to get his head on straight.
Nice job Cabrera. Nice job Shildt knowing exactly when to pull him. Nice job Gant.
Now let’s get some runs. Go Cards.
Grant gets the K! He had me worried a bit there.
Good outing by Cabrera.
Gant squirms out of a little bit of a jam in the bottom of the 7th. Up to the offense to hit Amir Garrett.
Tommy keeps the inning alive. Need Goldy to do something here!
Our old nemesis Suarez is up. If Gant gets by him, I think the Cards may just take this one.
Nice play by Wong on the Moustakas grounder. He shouldn’t have had to make it since Gomber got totally squeezed by the ump. But I’m glad it was an out.
Miller singles and now Dejong walks, aided by two questionable check swing calls. Up to Yadi to drive a guy home.
Carp needs to do something here.
So, they walk him intentionally.
Bunt. It’s 2nd and 3rd and Carp can redeem himself.
Finally, an old school sac bunt!
It’s Tyler O’Neill with the bases juiced. Now’s your time, Tyler…
