The play we never got to see: Miller hitting with a runner on third and one out. Ouch!

Would they have walked him to set up the DP possibility with Yadi, anyway? Those runs meant nothing.

they already walked Miller to get to yadi today, I’d expected the same again

If it fell that way, jj, DeJong’s blunder would not have cost them the game. But didn’t you know that after the Cards missed their opportunity that the Indians would immediately score?

the difference would be is all we need is a flyball from yadi then, maybe a totally different at bat if dejong moves to third like he should have.

If De Jong wants to just stand there watching, he ought to buy a ticket.

What a disappointing loss. Execution was a real problem. Too many mistakes.

Runner starts the inning on second. Wild pitch moved him to third. It all went down hill after that.

So, they are now 2-5 on this home stand?

It’s absolutely inexcusable to have that many chances to win the game outright and then another to tie and find a way to blunder it away each time. A well deserved loss.

Also, Tyler O’Neill should be traded. He’s clearly not in favor at all with the team and he’s got too much talent to ride the bench in key situations.

I expected Knizner as runner at 2B, for Yadi, but maybe Yadi said no 🙂

Two inning ending DP’s and a severe lack of effort on 3B basepath leaves Yadi looking POOR, for the day.

In the post-game, Shildt said Molina is one of his best baserunners and other than maybe fresh legs, he did not think either of the remaining options, Nogo or Knizner, would offer more.

He also said he didn’t need to talk to DeJong about the not tagging play because Paul “probably already knows he could have read it better.”

Shildt acknowledged “we’ve got to execute better with our opportunities.” He already knew they were 1-for-15 with runners in scoring position.

As far as the swagger, Shildt acknowledged a question that the team might be mentally fatigued but said twice that it is no excuse.

For the record, the Cards lost 2-1 in 12 innings, their fourth consecutive defeat and fifth in the last six games. Overall record is 11-13, 5-6 on the home stand with one more to go…

Maybe I could agree about the other two guys not being a big upgrade, but Molina one of the best baserunners? Is this serious? Shildt must be suffering from “mental fatigue.”
