I don’t hate the Cards after being a fan for 7 decades, jj. But this Cards team is all about fading vets and hopeful youngsters. It’s one of the most frustrating Cardinal teams I can remember.

23+ games of .500 ball that would still make them a playoff qualifier in a crazy disheveled season in the middle of a pandemic is more frustrating than missing the playoffs three years straight from 2016-2018? More frustrating than the entire decade of the 1970s or the first half of the 1990s? Feels like recency bias to me. Step back and take a breath!

Is something wrong with Cabrera? Started to warm in the seventh, but now Gomber is in. Still a 1-0 game.

Totally agree brian. The fans have been spoiled here. We have a decent team, yea we cant hit, but we are generally competitive.

There must be a unwritten rule that STL pen members must walk their first batter faced. Now Gomber ups it to two in a row.

Cabrera has a cracked fingernail on his left middle finger. That is why he left the game. Could have been a lot worse…

Cards got out of a jam. Now they need to get a few runs across the plate!

Thanks Yadi. And Gomer, quit shaking off a HOF defensive catcher, put your efforts toward actually hitting the mitt.

Looked like Yadi slapped ball four into right for a single.

Carp singles in Miller. Come on blue! Crap strike calls like that is why young guys chase out of the zone.

This guy is pretty tough to hit, his breaking stuff anyway.

Okay, B., one more time. We have been on a long offensive slide since MV3. We were okay when we added Holliday and guys like Berkman and Beltran. But from 2013 on we started casting our lot with guys like Grichuk, Piscotty, Diaz, Adams, Heyward,
Fowler, etc. Now we’ve got Bader, O’Neill Thomas, Edman, etc. Where’s the beef? We got some pop with Ozuna and then didn’t extend him. Last season was fine, but we were in the bottom half of MLB in runs scored. Our team OPS+ for the season was 93. If the offense this team had last year and so far this year is adequate for you, so be it. It’s not for me.

And the last 2 at bats by O’Neill and Bader were horrible. If they haven’t learned to lay off sucker pitches in the dirt by now, when will they? Good grief.

i always find it hilarious when people talk about someone hitting or laying off a breaking pitch by an obvious really good pitcher, when they probably couldnt hit a ball if it was sitting on a T.

Last season pitchers batted. That teams ops+ was 98 for non-pitchers. This season is all non-pitchers batting (DH). At least compare apples to apples.
