I don’t hate the Cards after being a fan for 7 decades, jj. But this Cards team is all about fading vets and hopeful youngsters. It’s one of the most frustrating Cardinal teams I can remember.
23+ games of .500 ball that would still make them a playoff qualifier in a crazy disheveled season in the middle of a pandemic is more frustrating than missing the playoffs three years straight from 2016-2018? More frustrating than the entire decade of the 1970s or the first half of the 1990s? Feels like recency bias to me. Step back and take a breath!
August 29, 2020 at 2:14 pm #137426Is something wrong with Cabrera? Started to warm in the seventh, but now Gomber is in. Still a 1-0 game.
August 29, 2020 at 2:15 pm #137427
jj-cf-stlParticipant5 pitches? was so fast I missed them.
Schildt working off his days rest list with the pen. Odd Cabrera came out while warming.

ParticipantTotally agree brian. The fans have been spoiled here. We have a decent team, yea we cant hit, but we are generally competitive.

Participanti think cabrera might be injured, too early to say.
August 29, 2020 at 2:19 pm #137431
jj-cf-stlParticipantThere must be a unwritten rule that STL pen members must walk their first batter faced. Now Gomber ups it to two in a row.
August 29, 2020 at 2:20 pm #1374321982 willie
Participantwe need a double play here
August 29, 2020 at 2:21 pm #1374331982 willie
Participantthe guy is giving you an out and you wont take it.
August 29, 2020 at 2:25 pm #137434Cabrera has a cracked fingernail on his left middle finger. That is why he left the game. Could have been a lot worse…
August 29, 2020 at 2:25 pm #137435Cards got out of a jam. Now they need to get a few runs across the plate!
August 29, 2020 at 2:26 pm #1374361982 willie
ParticipantYea we need to put something together now.
August 29, 2020 at 2:27 pm #137437
jj-cf-stlParticipantThanks Yadi. And Gomer, quit shaking off a HOF defensive catcher, put your efforts toward actually hitting the mitt.
August 29, 2020 at 2:32 pm #137438This Karinchack has an interesting Way of pitching.
August 29, 2020 at 2:33 pm #137439Looked like Yadi slapped ball four into right for a single.
August 29, 2020 at 2:38 pm #1374411982 willie
Participantcarpenter comes through.
August 29, 2020 at 2:40 pm #137442
jj-cf-stlParticipantCarp singles in Miller. Come on blue! Crap strike calls like that is why young guys chase out of the zone.
August 29, 2020 at 2:41 pm #1374431982 willie
ParticipantThis guy is pretty tough to hit, his breaking stuff anyway.
August 29, 2020 at 2:43 pm #137444
jj-cf-stlParticipantThe Mighty Bader whiffs on a low and away breaking ball (four)
August 29, 2020 at 2:43 pm #137445All three outs were strike outs.
August 29, 2020 at 2:45 pm #137446Sigh!

ParticipantOkay, B., one more time. We have been on a long offensive slide since MV3. We were okay when we added Holliday and guys like Berkman and Beltran. But from 2013 on we started casting our lot with guys like Grichuk, Piscotty, Diaz, Adams, Heyward,
Fowler, etc. Now we’ve got Bader, O’Neill Thomas, Edman, etc. Where’s the beef? We got some pop with Ozuna and then didn’t extend him. Last season was fine, but we were in the bottom half of MLB in runs scored. Our team OPS+ for the season was 93. If the offense this team had last year and so far this year is adequate for you, so be it. It’s not for me.And the last 2 at bats by O’Neill and Bader were horrible. If they haven’t learned to lay off sucker pitches in the dirt by now, when will they? Good grief.
August 29, 2020 at 2:54 pm #1374481982 willie
Participanti always find it hilarious when people talk about someone hitting or laying off a breaking pitch by an obvious really good pitcher, when they probably couldnt hit a ball if it was sitting on a T.
August 29, 2020 at 2:55 pm #137449
jj-cf-stlParticipantLast season pitchers batted. That teams ops+ was 98 for non-pitchers. This season is all non-pitchers batting (DH). At least compare apples to apples.
August 29, 2020 at 2:56 pm #137450
jj-cf-stlParticipantNice Goldy
