stlcard25Participantwell stlcard, id rather have a guy with a strong accurate arm, great range, and can hit pretty well while getting paid millions of dollars. But i guess it just depends on your taste.
It’s the strong arm part that is usually what people complain about when it comes to Carp. Yet, I can’t ever think of a time when one of his throws has been too late to get a runner. I know he’s not the ideal candidate to play 3rd right now, but Edman and Miller have made some mistakes.
August 26, 2020 at 8:07 pm #136973This is not looking good for Dakota. Struggling with control.
August 26, 2020 at 8:20 pm #136974
stlcard25ParticipantGoldy hits one 700 feet high that just lands short. Still, it’s a sac fly and the lead is cut in half.
August 26, 2020 at 8:22 pm #136975
stlcard25ParticipantEdman with the steal and the ball gets away and he’s in scoring position with one out for Miller.
August 26, 2020 at 8:24 pm #136976
stlcard25ParticipantThe Cards once again fail to get the runner in when they had a golden chance. It remains 2-1.
August 26, 2020 at 8:27 pm #136977Already 4 LOB and 0-5 with RISP per Game Day. Ugh!!!

ParticipantThese guys really need to work on fundamentals.
August 26, 2020 at 8:30 pm #136979The offense is just not prolific enough to continue to miss these scoring opportunities. Losing two of three to KC at home would be a really bad outcome.
August 26, 2020 at 8:39 pm #136980
stlcard25ParticipantO’Neill seems to be back in his K mode again. Junis has him eating out of the palm of his hand with that junkball repertoire. Up to Carlson now.
August 26, 2020 at 8:39 pm #136981Who would’ve thought Matt Carpenter would have more HBPs than the Astros this year. Loss of bat speed doesn’t effect your ability to take one for the team! (Disclosure: Statement made of hyperbole and not backed by facts or actual statistics)
August 26, 2020 at 8:39 pm #136982Working on fundamentals would help (e.g. two strike approach). However, I am concerned they just do not have enough quality ML hitters. This club has too many hitters that are below league average AVG and OBP … forget SLG and OPS which is even worse. Also, too many strike outs.
I will concede the sample size is small for 2020. However, it would appear the issues bothering the team in 2019 remain.

stlcard25ParticipantCarlson goes oppo to drive in Carp with the double!! 2-2.
August 26, 2020 at 9:01 pm #136986
stlcard25ParticipantThe Cards put two deep in that inning but neither could get over the wall so it remains 2-2.
August 26, 2020 at 9:01 pm #136987I almost went the way of Blingboy tonight and headed for the exit, but reconsidered after some reflection and can say I’m proud our team took the field tonight. They made the right call. Every aspect of American life is politicized these days, but MLB can help by taking the field, showing unity as a team and playing the game America loves without politics on the field.
That said,Holland is now on the mound so time to rack up some runs.
August 26, 2020 at 9:09 pm #136988Dakota settled in and has looked good the past few innings. Moved his strike ratio from 50% to nearly 60% Of pitches thrown over the past few innings.
Need to get him some runs here!
August 26, 2020 at 9:14 pm #136990
stlcard25ParticipantCarp missed a center-center fastball for strike one. Then a classic call against Carp for 0-2. He eventually Ks on the low slider. Kennedy has an ERA approaching 8 this year.
August 26, 2020 at 9:16 pm #136991
stlcard25ParticipantYadi and O’Neill with back to back singles and it’s up to Dylan Carlson again. Can he come through a second time??
August 26, 2020 at 9:20 pm #136992The veteran carved up the rookie. Another opportunity lost.
August 26, 2020 at 9:20 pm #136993
stlcard25ParticipantDylan strikes out looking on a fastball. Missed chance there, again. 1-9 with RISP for the night.
August 26, 2020 at 9:22 pm #136994Up to 7 LOB and 1-9 with RISP Thru six innings per game day. Ugh!
It was nice to see O’Neil get a hit and snap his hitless streak.

Participantyou dont have to have great hitters to be fundamentally sound at the plate. below average hitters can move runners over, hit fly balls when needed, it just takes practice and a willingness to do so.
August 26, 2020 at 9:39 pm #136997bccran
Participant2 runs in the last 13 innings. Here we go again.
August 26, 2020 at 9:42 pm #1369981982 willie
ParticipantWith us getting the starter out fairly early, this has been a little disappointing. We needed to win this early with the double header tomorrow.
August 26, 2020 at 10:10 pm #136999Bases loaded with one out in the eighth. Rosenthal vs. Carlson.
August 26, 2020 at 10:11 pm #1370001982 willie
