Now Dexter with the two run double! 6-0, Redbirds!

Bad luck once again for Dylan Carlson, who grounds into a tag em out, throw em out double play. Harrison Bader gets hit by the pitch and we have now batted around.

Three Cardinals hit by pitches in first five innings (two by Holland) and both benches have been warned.

Reyes pitching the sixth. Five shutout innings for Flaherty.

I like seeing Holland do for the Royals what he did for us in 2018. Good chance they’ll shed him at the end of the season.

Yea brian, we shouldnt get a warning there. I know thats the rule but in this situation its a bad rule cause all reyes has to do is lose a grip on one pitch and hes out of the game while kc just got away with nailing 3 guys.

HE should have kept feeding him the offspeed stuff.

Reyes plays around with his poor control and gets burned. Soler hammers one way deep and admires it deeply. The lead is cut in half.

well another big homer allowed after a play wasnt made in the field. Dejong had a lot more time on that throw than he thought. Just set and throw and he gets him.

Error, walk, homer and the lead is halved. Soler is their best hitter for a reason. Reyes out, Gomber in.

I think we need some fielding practice.

Great job by gomber. Hes the lefty we need to see out there far more often than some of the other ones.

I’m kinda curious why Shildt elects to play a Miller at third and not at second. He has played at lot more second base over his career and his fielding percent is much better.

Well 1964, wong has that spot kinda sewn up most nights. With dejong out it made the most sense to put him at third with edmon going to short. Going forward its hard to say. Id like to see him do more DH, share duty with carpenter and spot start here and there giving guys days off. I still think edman by far is our best defensive third base option.

Edman makes it 9-3 Cards on a single after a Bader double.

I’m digging your Popeyes chicken Pugs. Love their spicy with mashers, gravy and green beans.

Overall a great game. Reyes was the only blip pitching and i actually thought he was solid, just lost it a bit after that error. Lots of great at bats by a lot of guys even if they werent always successful.

The score finishes 9-3, St. Louis. The Cards improve to 10-8. The Cubs also won so the gap remains three games.
