stlcard25ParticipantWieters flies out and that’s a disgusting end to the inning.
August 18, 2020 at 8:35 pm #135743bccran
ParticipantDexter? Ugh.
August 18, 2020 at 8:37 pm #135744
jj-cf-stlParticipantouch
August 18, 2020 at 8:38 pm #135745
jj-cf-stlParticipantponce again? he’s lost the strike zone.
August 18, 2020 at 8:39 pm #135746I am a little worried with what is happening.
– Bases loaded with no out and the Redbirds cannot score
– They bring Ponce back out after he seemed to struggle a bit in the third.August 18, 2020 at 8:40 pm #135748
jj-cf-stlParticipantmaybe he’s stretching ponce because he has 2 relievers who didn’t throw yesterday
August 18, 2020 at 8:44 pm #135749Man, big missed opportunity. Carlson slow out of the gate, but then didn’t Willie Mays go something like oh for 23 in his first few games, then homered off Warren Spahn and the rest was history.
Darvish has good movement on his pitches. We are struggling to make contact.
2-0 now as Heyward triples in a run. That old intangible player Mo Mentum is wearing a Cub uni.
August 18, 2020 at 8:47 pm #135750Need a K here.
August 18, 2020 at 8:51 pm #135751
jj-cf-stlParticipant13 of 16 have put the ball in play, 3 K
August 18, 2020 at 8:57 pm #135752
jj-cf-stlParticipantyes! one more
August 18, 2020 at 9:00 pm #135753
jj-cf-stlParticipantnice elledge! Down 2 after 4, big deal
August 18, 2020 at 9:01 pm #135754Disaster averted! Seth settled down and got two big strike outs. Not sure Shildt should have brought a Ponce out to start the inning. He looked like he was struggling to get out of the third.
Now th3 offense needs to pick it up.
August 18, 2020 at 9:01 pm #135755Momentum switcher I hope!!
August 18, 2020 at 9:10 pm #135758
jj-cf-stlParticipant2 for 3 for Wong and had a lineout to Rizzo to start the game
August 18, 2020 at 9:12 pm #135759That was Edman’s pitch right there.
August 18, 2020 at 9:15 pm #135760bccran
ParticipantBader’s putty in a major league pitcher’s hands.
August 18, 2020 at 9:17 pm #135761Finally!
August 18, 2020 at 9:17 pm #135762
stlcard25ParticipantGoldy cuts the lead in half with his third hit of the night.
August 18, 2020 at 9:27 pm #135766
jj-cf-stlParticipant.381 / .409 / .429 / .838 is our slash for the game after 5 innings. Stupid DP’s haven’t helped.

Participantoutside of wong and goldy, we havent had too much hitting. a few hits but those guys looked really bad in other spots especially run producing spots. Anyone have an idea why oneil got pulled before the game, apparently he was in starting lineup. Im a big bader fan but he doesnt match up with darvish at all.
August 18, 2020 at 9:49 pm #135770
stlcard25ParticipantWith 8 hits and a walk, you have to score more than 1 run. It seems like other teams are scoring on our staff with 3 or 4 hits a game.
August 18, 2020 at 9:56 pm #135773The difference is:
– Cubs have walked one hitter
– Cards have walked five and hit a batsman.August 18, 2020 at 10:22 pm #135774I am guessing the Cards will option out Elledge and bring up the last relief pitcher, Dobzanski for the double header tomorrow. Maybe bring back Kaminsky too?
August 18, 2020 at 10:35 pm #1357751982 willie
ParticipantSome of these guys the cards are bringing up, just shouldnt be here far as pitchers go. But with all these games in a short time, i guess no choice.
August 18, 2020 at 10:50 pm #135776It is a tough situation the Redbirds find themselves in. I could be wrong, but … in addition to the initial delay to the seasons start and COVID time off … the Cards are down seven pitchers that should be on the ML staff:
– Mikolas and Brebbia on IL for injuries
– Hicks opted out
– Martinez, Helmsley, Fernandez, Whitley on COVID ILThat is a lot of holes to plug before you even consider the condensed schedule the Cardinals are playing.
