Wieters flies out and that’s a disgusting end to the inning.

I am a little worried with what is happening.

    – Bases loaded with no out and the Redbirds cannot score
    – They bring Ponce back out after he seemed to struggle a bit in the third.

maybe he’s stretching ponce because he has 2 relievers who didn’t throw yesterday

Man, big missed opportunity. Carlson slow out of the gate, but then didn’t Willie Mays go something like oh for 23 in his first few games, then homered off Warren Spahn and the rest was history.

Darvish has good movement on his pitches. We are struggling to make contact.

2-0 now as Heyward triples in a run. That old intangible player Mo Mentum is wearing a Cub uni.

Disaster averted! Seth settled down and got two big strike outs. Not sure Shildt should have brought a Ponce out to start the inning. He looked like he was struggling to get out of the third.

Now th3 offense needs to pick it up.

That was Edman’s pitch right there.

Bader’s putty in a major league pitcher’s hands.

    .381 / .409 / .429 / .838 is our slash for the game after 5 innings. Stupid DP’s haven’t helped.

outside of wong and goldy, we havent had too much hitting. a few hits but those guys looked really bad in other spots especially run producing spots. Anyone have an idea why oneil got pulled before the game, apparently he was in starting lineup. Im a big bader fan but he doesnt match up with darvish at all.

With 8 hits and a walk, you have to score more than 1 run. It seems like other teams are scoring on our staff with 3 or 4 hits a game.

    The difference is:

    – Cubs have walked one hitter
    – Cards have walked five and hit a batsman.

I am guessing the Cards will option out Elledge and bring up the last relief pitcher, Dobzanski for the double header tomorrow. Maybe bring back Kaminsky too?

Some of these guys the cards are bringing up, just shouldnt be here far as pitchers go. But with all these games in a short time, i guess no choice.

It is a tough situation the Redbirds find themselves in. I could be wrong, but … in addition to the initial delay to the seasons start and COVID time off … the Cards are down seven pitchers that should be on the ML staff:

    – Mikolas and Brebbia on IL for injuries
    – Hicks opted out
    – Martinez, Helmsley, Fernandez, Whitley on COVID IL

That is a lot of holes to plug before you even consider the condensed schedule the Cardinals are playing.
