We should be getting someone loose but my guess is Matheny slow to the draw. I’d let him go until he gave up a hit then pull him.
June 22, 2018 at 9:45 pm #57786
stlcard25ParticipantThere goes the no no and the shutout. Tie game.
June 22, 2018 at 9:45 pm #57787NJ315
ParticipantThat’s what happens when you get no support. 1-1
June 22, 2018 at 9:46 pm #57788NJ315
ParticipantTake him out.
June 22, 2018 at 9:47 pm #57789
stlcard25ParticipantIt gets so tiring watching this team blow 5 good chances to extend the lead and one all or nothing hitter gets lucky and swings into a homer, and now it’s a battle of the bullpens.
June 22, 2018 at 9:48 pm #57791Well damn, no no gone and lead gone too. Offense owed him a whole lot better.
June 22, 2018 at 9:49 pm #57792
stlcard25ParticipantFlaherty still is looking good, even with the home run. That wasn’t a bad pitch that gave up the hit…and he’s still got good movement and velocity. Hopefully he can get Pina out and we can shut down the 8th and 9th.
June 22, 2018 at 9:54 pm #57793Hopefully he can get Pina out and we can shut down the 8th and 9th.
And add a run. Only 3 hits and 12 strikeouts (9 by position players).
June 22, 2018 at 9:54 pm #57794
stlcard25ParticipantIf there’s any poetic justice in this game, the Cards score here to give Jack a much deserved win.
That’s not the most likely scenario, of course.
June 22, 2018 at 9:59 pm #57795
stlcard25ParticipantFowler lets the center cut pitch go, then swings at junk almost in the dirt. He’s just worn out. Give him a “shoulder soreness” trip to Memphis to work out this and give O’Neill another shot.
June 22, 2018 at 10:01 pm #57796Make that 14 K’s – This team makes Dave Kingman look like a contact hitter.
June 22, 2018 at 10:04 pm #57797
stlcard25ParticipantThe .125 hitter singles into center and the Brewers are in business.
June 22, 2018 at 10:08 pm #57798NJ315
ParticipantSo what is Carlos Martinez hot about?
June 22, 2018 at 10:08 pm #57799
stlcard25ParticipantFrustration play there. Didn’t seem like any intent by Sogard, but better to get the out at second. Good play by Hicks.
June 22, 2018 at 10:15 pm #57800Well, Hicks’ throw put Munoz into the path of the runner, then he wild-pitched the batter to second, anyway. But he escaped his two-on jam.
June 22, 2018 at 10:16 pm #57801
stlcard25ParticipantBig K of Cain there. Still 1-1 but Munoz, Wong, PH doesn’t inspire a ton of confidence.
June 22, 2018 at 10:22 pm #57803
stlcard25ParticipantYairo hit it ok but Wong was totally overmatched after the ump called the 4″ outside strike. Garcia in to pinch hit. Can he get it to Carp?
June 22, 2018 at 10:24 pm #57804
stlcard25ParticipantNope…pop up.
Norris coming in, Brewers will go for the walk off.
June 22, 2018 at 10:32 pm #57805What a sad sad loss. Flaherty deserved a win tonight but the Mabry offense cost him.
June 22, 2018 at 10:32 pm #57806NJ315
ParticipantWell that sucked. Aguilar 2 Cards 1
June 22, 2018 at 10:34 pm #57807What a bummer.
3 hits given up. 2hr. Lose by 1
Wow. The baseball gods are just not with us at the moment.
Harumph
Better game than Thursday though. And the Cubs lost again so that always help me sleep better. Which is where I’m going now. Though I expect to see this thread cluttered with I told ya so and and cries of impending doom by morning. But I’d love to be wrong about that.
Flaherty was fire tonight.
Go get em tomorrow boys!
Go Cards!
June 22, 2018 at 10:35 pm #57808WHEN ALL YOU DO IS STRIKEOUT YOU CANT SCORE RUNS!!!!!!
I am so sick and tired of everybody swinging like maniacs I am about to vomit.
As far as I am concerned everyone of the Cardinals can go. That includes the coaching staff. And I am so sick and tired of the stupid goofy crap that I am about to vomit again.
WHATEVER HAPPENED TO GOOD OLD FASHIONED HARD-NOSED CARDINAL BASEBALL??????

June 22, 2018 at 10:37 pm #57810Cards lose 2-1 on a walkoff HR to fall to 0-2 in the series and 38-36 on the year and fall to a season-worst 6 1/2 games back.
A question:
Is it worse to be blown out with an infielder finishing on the mound or to lose an almost no-hitter? What is on store for Saturday and Sunday?

June 22, 2018 at 10:39 pm #57812I will tell you whats in store for Saturday and Sunday. One word:
STRIKEOUTS!!!
June 22, 2018 at 10:39 pm #57813
stlcard25ParticipantI think this one ends in a sweep and a below .500 team by the All Star break. Matheny seems to have lost the team, and it’s possible they are trying to drive him out. There is no Waino/Yadi who are still playing elite baseball to shake this team loose, and the current “leadership” can’t stay on the field due to injury, ineffectiveness or getting thrown out of the game.
Things are very bleak in 2018 and while I’d love to be wrong, it’s steaming toward time to punt on this season or shake up the coaching staff mid season. We all know they wouldn’t fire an actual coach in season so… punt?
