Q: Who in the heck is Bobby Wilson?

A: The guy who just iced this game.

How Luke Gregerson keeps his job is beyond me. He’s upped his ERA to 8.84 and we’re in middle of May. Its time to cut his dead weight.

What a fine addition Gregerson has been. Mo must be so proud. These Twins are tough…unbeatable I’d say.

Pathetic Gregorson! And just think we’ve got him for another season.

Remember this was our closer according to Mo!

Don’t worry BHC! We’ll be in 4th by weeks end.

This lineup / team has a X % chance of overcoming a 3-run deficit in the 8th inning against the Twins tonight. What’s the over / under for X? About 1.7 is my guess.

Does Pham still have that groin injury? He’s playing like he’s still hurting. Why the hell is he not on the DL if he’s still injured. He’s doing the team and himself no favors!

I don’t understand why our guys watch good pitches go by when we’re down by 3 in late innings. Just put the darn ball in play. I’d rather we lose trying than lose watching — and that’s on the batting coach I’m sorry to say.

I’m not sure what else can be said at this point. If the management is happy to keep rolling some of these same guys out there night after night then apathy isn’t gonna be too far behind for the fan base. This offense is nothing short of embarrassing and horrendous.

Game mercifully comes to an end. MCarp, JMart and Ozuna go down in order in the 9th. This offense is as boring as it is bad. I should’ve watched Mindhunter or Mannix or something besides this game.

Just checked some stats on the MLB website. Fowler and Carp occupy spots 171 and 172 respectively (out of 172 total players listed) for batting average.

In three games against the Twins, the Cardinals are hitting .096/.154/.141. Yes, that is an OPS below .300, with 31 strikeouts and 6 walks. It takes skill to be that astronomically bad. Anyone want to bet against Lynn breaking out of his slump against his old team tomorrow?

This is the worst offense I’ve seen in a long time. Even getting Molina back will only help it a little bit and we’re talking 3 weeks from now.

This team is in a lot of trouble! We need the 3 stooges and Schemp to get it going a bit. Even 3 runs a game can keep it afloat until Molina comes back.

For the record, the Cards lose 4-1 to fall to 22-17 and 0-3 against the Twins, a team that is 18-20 overall. St. Louis has lost three straight and five of the last seven after a five-game winning streak to open the month.

Not only that but they have scored what, 2 runs in those 3 losses to the twins?

How does Mabry keep his job?

MM needs to get his head out of his rear, no way at all Carp can bat lead off who in their right might would bat one of the worst hitters in the game lead off…oh yeah STL Cardinals clueless manager!

In the first two months of the 2017 season Marcel Ozuna hit 14 HR and had 39 RBI. Additionally he hit over .300 with 8 double in 196 AB in 51 games. For Mar/Apr his OPB was .357 and SLG .534 and for May .413 and .611.

In 2018 he has 5 doubles, 3 HR, 20 RBI, and a .265 average. He is OBP is .300 and SLG is .358.

His career numbers are a little up and down but he is still young. However, with the change in scenery he is approaching career lows in these areas. That’s a concern. So he is responsible to a degree, but I can’t help but think given the sharp decline statistically it has something to do with instruction as well. The Cardinals have taken a power hitter and made him a punch and Judy hitter so far. Is my concern for his production misplaced?

If my numbers are correct, I believe the Twins have outscored us 17-2 in the three games. They are under .500, but look like the eventual ALCS opponents of the Yankees when they play St. Louis.

The club is 12th in the NL in runs scored and batting average, 11th in OPS. We are actually worse than last year, when we finished sixth in runs scored.

Obviously Ozuna has not provided the offensive boost planned when he was acquired, and our twin culprits Carpenter and Fowler are having almost historic early season woes.

Add to that an uncertain bullpen, where different guys are rushed on and off the roster and the guys who stay on have not performed all that well for the most part, Norris being the most notable exception, and it is a wonder we are still over .500.

I think the offense will come around. Ozuna will be better over the last 75% of the season than he has been, Pham is pretty much a given, Martinez can hit. Wong and DeJong should be better, although it’s far from certain how much better they will be. Molina will eventually return and hopefully stay consistent.

Carpenter and Fowler can’t be any worse, but they may not get back on the field enough to prove themselves unless Gyorko and Bader become equally bad.

Like I have said all along if our offense is not going to turn around then let’s focus on the things we can do well, which is pitching and defense. We need to always put the best defensive team on the field which includes Wong, Gyroko, and Bader. I mean if we can only count on scoring 2 or 3 runs per game we had better do everything humanly possible to focus on run prevention.

By the way we are 2-10 at Minnesota all time.

How many of the current players participated in those 12 games? Interesting stat, but not very meaningful, IMO.
