At this point the Cards look like a 4th place team.
April 28, 2018 at 9:20 pm #50437Another disastrous defensive inning for the Cards and another gift to the Bucs. Stick a fork in ’em tonight, hopefully tomorrow will be different.
How long are they going to double down on the stupidity that is Carp at 3B? Hope Mo truly embraces his plush exec penthouse role and let’s Girsch assume the team architecture decisions, to include the next acquisition for the pen whenever that takes place.
April 28, 2018 at 9:21 pm #50438Wait a minute, BHC. It is the Pirates that are supposed to be the fourth-place team! 😉
April 28, 2018 at 9:23 pm #50439St. Louis drops its second in two nights in Pittsburgh, 6-2. The Cards record is now 15-11, 8-11 against teams not from Cincinnati.
April 28, 2018 at 9:36 pm #50440Who we got going to keep the sweep away? Weaver?
This is the ML debut for this guy. Either we’ll light him up or get shut down.
April 28, 2018 at 10:53 pm #50443Matheny may be a great guy, but is an awful manager. Especially when it comes to pitching changes. Last night he let in Holland in too long. Tonight he uses Mayers for what seems like the 3rd time all year. Granted he was dispatched to Memphis for a while. He basically sawed off 2 bats, and was unlucky with the infield hits. I would much rather see him than Bowman for the 26th time.
April 28, 2018 at 10:56 pm #50444That is the first quick pitch rule I have ever seen in 40 years of watching. Is it an old rule?
April 28, 2018 at 11:00 pm #50446putting carpenter anywhere in the lineup (or the infield) over gyorko at this point boggles my mind…
April 28, 2018 at 11:22 pm #50449Gyorko should be starting ahead of Wong and Carpenter.
Bader should be starting ahead of Fowler.
April 29, 2018 at 9:43 am #5048714NyquisTParticipantWe have two guys in key spots in the order that aren’t getting it done. Two others that weren’t on the radar screen before last season are carrying this club.
The FO has a fistful of OFers ready for MLB at Memphis plus Bader and they keep running the same guy out to play RF. This is the same guy that was going to be our CF and lead-off man for the term of his contract. That ridiculous signing is not only blocking some younger OFers but is putting a hole in the lineup that the Cards cannot afford to have. AND is putting a hole in the team’s pocket. Maybe its time to cut our loss.
I suggest the FO getting a list of teams that our RF would be willing to go to and perhaps pay the $$ it would take for him to get there. Just flush.
The other player still has some value and is a versatile infielder that should only be playing first base.
April 29, 2018 at 10:44 am #50498It’s not a good situation to have 3 regulars hitting below .200, and 2 relievers that have not proved reliable. Welcome to the 20 man roster.
