stlcard25ParticipantSanchez has good stats this year but I’m just not buying that he’s that good. He’s due to give up a few runs the second time through the order.
September 18, 2018 at 7:21 pm #69791
stlcard25ParticipantAcuna crushes one. I figured when they said that Gomber hadn’t given up a homer in 40 innings that he was due to have that end.
September 18, 2018 at 7:28 pm #69792
stlcard25ParticipantGomber can’t find the plate right now. He’s literally missing his spots by feet. Back to back walks to load the bases.
September 18, 2018 at 7:33 pm #69793Lucky it’s only 1-0
We will have better luck the 2nd time around on Sanchez.
September 18, 2018 at 7:35 pm #69794Yep, Gomber is all over the place. Got lucky on the 3rd out liner right at Bader with the bases loaded. Of course the one guy (Acuña) you might want to be way off the plate against, Gomber set one on a tee center cut for him. Still just one run down though. Need to get a hit at some point.

jj-cf-stlParticipantGomber struggling is like inviting tyson, and that’s not a best case for me.
September 18, 2018 at 7:37 pm #69797Carp really needs to quit striking out so much. The man has had a bipolar season.
September 18, 2018 at 7:39 pm #69798
stlcard25ParticipantDejong!!! He smokes one to left for a 2-1 lead.
September 18, 2018 at 7:39 pm #69799
jj-cf-stlParticipantOh yah, Cha-ching!
September 18, 2018 at 7:39 pm #69800DeJong 2-run shot. Just like that, the Cards lead 2-1.
September 18, 2018 at 7:45 pm #69802Carp has been substandard but is still getting on base. He need to be more assertive. We need him!
I would like to see him and Martinez separated in the order until they figure it out. I think we need Jose though to be more off an offensive force and in the lineup if Carp is just going to take walks.
September 18, 2018 at 7:46 pm #69803Get the bullpen up.
September 18, 2018 at 7:49 pm #69804Carp has been blowing chunks lately…any chance of a MVP for him is long gone
September 18, 2018 at 7:52 pm #69805
jj-cf-stlParticipantGombers curve doesn’t have that wiffle ball bite tonight.
September 18, 2018 at 7:55 pm #69806Take this chump yard Molina!
September 18, 2018 at 7:55 pm #69807
jj-cf-stlParticipantLike to see bader bunt for hit here
September 18, 2018 at 8:00 pm #69808
stlcard25ParticipantVery poor bunt attempt by Gomber. Probably as bad a decision to send Wong. I think I’d rather have uad a pinch hitter there.
September 18, 2018 at 8:04 pm #69809Carp with the hat trick in just the 5th inning, this time stranding two runners.
September 18, 2018 at 8:05 pm #69810
stlcard25ParticipantCarpenter has reverted to early season form.
September 18, 2018 at 8:08 pm #69811
stlcard25ParticipantCarpenter since August 6: .215/.341/.410. That’s a 98 wRC+, so he’s been a below average player for the stretch run.
September 18, 2018 at 8:13 pm #69813I think I’d rather have uad a pinch hitter there.
I hope Gomber goes a couple more innings to make this thought wrong and save the pen somewhat, but a successful pinch hit there could very well have made the difference for a win tonight.
September 18, 2018 at 8:19 pm #69814
jj-cf-stlParticipantBase runners are us, but 5 IP / 1 ER.
September 18, 2018 at 8:21 pm #69815Gomber won’t go any longer unless a lefty is up.
If Manfred wants to speed up the game then maybe he needs to mandate pitchers have some control. The game last night started 1 hour before MNF and ended about the same time. lol
September 18, 2018 at 8:22 pm #69816We need some runs!
September 18, 2018 at 8:27 pm #69817Sanchez gets his season high strikeouts in the 6th. Maybe he’ll be lifted for a PHer now.
