Holland still center stage…this guy owes us, so let’s own him here in the 10th.

The irony of holland pitching the clean top of the ninth prior to Norris blowing it. Another clean inning against the cardinals

Pena walks to open the frame…nice start! Wisdom strolling plateward while A. Garcia runs for Pena.

Nats are 0-4 at home this year in extra inning affairs.

That’s some bad luck. September looking like a different month early. Let’s hope that can change

Wow! Talk about bad luck…if that’s not a hit & run play, we have runners perched at 1st & 3rd with no outs. Instead, the bases are lonely and we have 2 outs.

Holland continues to haunt us! I just may go as Gee Holland this Halloween…be enough to scare any Cardinal fan stone stiff.

Shreve carries on here in the 10th with our old buddy Mark Reynolds leading off. Watch out for this guy!

Mo gifts Shreve and Adams to the Cards and Theo delivers Hamels and Murphy. Sounds pretty much up to speed for both.

Holland has allowed 1 earned run in his last 12 appearances.
Why couldn’t MM get him to do that?

O’Neill had that ball! But he drops it and thus the Nats are primed for victory now with a runner at 2nd and 0 outs.

Turned pops up to Carp at 1st in foul turf…sweet! Up strides Mr. Harper.

What a lame throw home by Ozuna! Not that a good one would have nailed him, but none the less it was a feeble pathetic throw.

Well, you knew when it came down to Ozuna trying to throw out a runner at the plate, how it would end. Cards lose 4-3 in 10 on Harper’s sac fly.

On this day, the superstar Harper carried his team over the opponent that lacks one.

The September Cardinals are the April, May and June Cardinals. The August Cardinals looks like a fluke. That’s two days in a row that we could have used a squeeze play with teh bases loaded to get a run in, but instead allow Martinez to blow it.

Well, you knew they would hit a cold patch eventually. But it appears Mathenyball has returned. Now is when Shildt has to earn that contract and turn the team around. The playoffs could slip out of reach with one bad week and there have been two gut wrenchers in a row. Good teams don’t let the season spin out of control in these situations.

That goofball Jose Martinez and his failure to do anything with the bases loaded twice in key – KEY – situations the last two days really honks me off. That goofy stuff of his is okay when things are going good but when he fails like he has the last two days it only magnifies the fact that he is a goof.

I hope he’s not with the Cardinals next year. Is he under contract for 2019?

Rats, Martinez has 4 years of control left, I believe.

Hopefully Martinez won’t be with the team next year. Both him and Ozuna have been horrible lately.

Well, you knew when it came down to Ozuna trying to throw out a runner at the plate, how it would end. Cards lose 4-3 in 10 on Harper’s sac fly.

Which is why I wondered how the arm would be after extended rest. Quite clearly the rest didn’t help and I fear the worst in 2019 with regards to Ozuna’s participation. Which is why I wanted to shelve him in June and if he needed to go under the knife for and be out an extended period. We could go out an get a guy like Matt Adams (chuckles) as insurance and play O’Neill.

In all honestly I’d rather just Run with Bader O’Neill and Munoz/Martinez in the OF if this is the type of garbage production he’s going to give us the rest of the way.

I am ready to go with an OF of O’neill, Bader and A. Garcia for the rest of the year. I want the INF to be Wisdom, DeJong, Munoz and Carpenter. Use Martinez, Adams and Ozuna for spot starts and PHing.

Instead of removing Norris from the closer role, I would rather see pitchers like Hudson, Martinez, Poncedeleon and Ross get to keep pitching for up to 4 innings if they are pitching well. Let them bat like you would a starting pitcher. I would even go so far as to let them hit in the 8th and 9th innings. Are they really much worse than what G. Garcia has done this year? I am growing a little tired of the idea of 8th inning or 9th inning pitchers.
