Top 3rd – Brewers up 1-0
Wong cleanly fields a grounder to his left and gets Guerra for the first out.
WOW! Thames takes Waino deep to right field for a solo homer. Bader jumped up and tried to haul it in but the ball hits off the fingers of the glove and over the wall.
Waino gets the next Brewer to line out to Bader for the 3rd out. Brewers get another run and go up 2-0.
Surprisingly Waino looks much better today than Opening Day but two pitches have killed him for solo homers.
I see the Nationals have DFA’d Miguel Montero. Would we have any use? Might be a Cub killer for us. But then again, how would we use him with Molina playing almost everyday.
Waino fields another one. This one was a dribbler down the 1B line. He throws over the runners head.
Very extreme shift on Carp again and Carps takes the 2nd pitch and hits right into the shift…2nd Baseman playing in shallow right field.
Whew…Waino gets a grounder to the left. Goes under Carp and Garcia fields and throws off balance to JMart at 1B but runner beats the throw by a hairline.
Carp is looking like a liability at 3B today. He should have had the first grounder and I would argue should have gotten the 2nd.
Rats, Montero is more known for his offense than defense. However, the second catcher never gets to pinch-hit anyway. Guessing the Cards will stick with Pena for now.
