stlcard25ParticipantShoulder could be any number of things. But none good. I’d imagine he’s out for a while and probably the entire season with the way this team’s luck has been.
July 30, 2018 at 8:48 pm #63136Clear missed call by the ump. Terrible call. Gyroko comes back with the solo HR, nicely done. C’mon guys.
July 30, 2018 at 8:49 pm #63137Now West wants to call that on Munoz and Shiltz screaming at him
July 30, 2018 at 8:49 pm #63139Ponce got squeezed on a pitch that would’ve ended the inning. Umps just can’t adjust their sights to a pitch that’s off target, yet still in the zone. Automated ball/strike calls can’t get here soon enough. Mo can now go to sleep for the evening.
July 30, 2018 at 8:50 pm #63140
stlcard25ParticipantShildt may get tossed tonight if things keep going how they have so far.
July 30, 2018 at 8:51 pm #63141Martinez injury right shoulder strain.
Often, when coming back from injury, you tend to make adjustments that cause you to injure other parts of your body. My guess is, in trying to not re-injure his oblique, he put excess stress on the shoulder.
July 30, 2018 at 8:58 pm #63144Yeah it didn’t appear to be the oblique. I thought it may have been his back but it makes sense with his arm and the diminished velocity.
I think at this point if I think how this series is going to end up and with a likely impending trade or two in the works. I’d just see how long he’s out and if it’s too long I’d reset for 2019. Shame because he looked decent in the first 4 innings of work.
July 30, 2018 at 9:00 pm #63146
stlcard25ParticipantParra has been the difference in this game tonight. I remember his showboat homer last year against Lance Lynn. Still don’t like him and tonight he’s responsible for taking at least one run away and maybe two, and scored Colorado’s first run.
July 30, 2018 at 9:00 pm #63147Ponce got squeezed on a pitch that would’ve ended the inning. Umps just can’t adjust their sights to a pitch that’s off target, yet still in the zone. Automated ball/strike calls can’t get here soon enough. Mo can now go to sleep for the evening.
Yeah it wasn’t like he painted the corner either. The ball was all white over the plate. That call has to be made even if it didn’t hit where it was intended.
July 30, 2018 at 9:02 pm #63148
stlcard25ParticipantRepeat of the earlier Martinez error puts Parra on 3rd. Also with two strikes.
July 30, 2018 at 9:04 pm #63149Worst fielding team in the NL. Worst fielding staff for the last 3 years.
Team needs some fresh set of eyes throughout the organization.
July 30, 2018 at 9:05 pm #63150
stlcard25ParticipantLooked like he just knicked him with the glove. Still, it shouldn’t really have been that close a play.
July 30, 2018 at 9:08 pm #63152NJ315
ParticipantI may be the only one here to feel this way but the umpire clearly missed the call but must you give up a grandslam? How about getting the next guy out or hold him to a single?
July 30, 2018 at 9:10 pm #63153
stlcard25ParticipantAll these games in a row and it looks like Ponce is gonna be forced to eat some innings.
July 30, 2018 at 9:12 pm #63154So Ponce baited Parra with that wild pitch, a wiley vet move if you’ve ever seen one. Home field advantage, I bet Ponce knows the exact point 15 feet up on the back screen where the ball will ricochet directly back to Yadi in time to nail the runner.
July 30, 2018 at 9:17 pm #63156NJ
The pitch was a meatball no doubt.
July 30, 2018 at 9:17 pm #63157You are right NJ315, gotta take care of business. But still it would be nice to have to get only 3 outs in an inning. I guess we shouldn’t whine too much about the umps, because it’s usually our guys who are forcing our pitchers to have to get the extra outs. They’re all human, some more than others.
July 30, 2018 at 9:32 pm #63159This is the time you bring in JMart
July 30, 2018 at 9:34 pm #63160
stlcard25ParticipantWell, this game got a bit more interesting. Need to get at least two runs here.
July 30, 2018 at 9:37 pm #63161Bases loaded, nobody out, and we let Fowler hit for himself.
Predictable outcome.
July 30, 2018 at 9:37 pm #63162
stlcard25ParticipantThere’s the book on Fowler…throw him a high fastball and he’s a goner. I would have agreed with you, C2016. If Harrison can not hit into a double play, Jmart will hit.
July 30, 2018 at 9:39 pm #63163JMart should have been hitting for Fowler
July 30, 2018 at 9:39 pm #63164
stlcard25ParticipantWalked! 4-2 with still bases loaded and one out.
July 30, 2018 at 9:40 pm #63165Christmas gifts everywhere.
July 30, 2018 at 9:41 pm #63166
stlcard25ParticipantArenado is just excellent defensively. He would look great as a Cardinal. Hint.
