3:10 p.m. RHP Miles Mikolas (5-8, 4.33) vs. LHP Joey Lucchesi (6-4, 3.95) Fox Sports Midwest // KMOX
June 30, 2019 at 10:50 am #96329Need a win here – bad!
I have to get the chainsaw out and cut some big limbs into smaller ones so I can take them to the dump/landfill tomorrow with the rest of my trash. Then I have to clean the bugs off the front of my new 2019 540i BMW. Then I need to get the hoe/shovel out and dig some weeds out of where my back drain/ditch is. With all the rain this spring things have about got out of hand.
Then a shower and some Cardinal baseball.

ParticipantCBS sports gave out first half grades for each MLB team:
CARDINALS
GRADE: B-On the one hand, the Cardinals are above the waterline and very much in the NL Central and wild-card races despite having played a pretty tough schedule to date. That said, expectations were higher in terms of winning percentage. Paul Goldschmidt has disappointed to date, and the rotation has somewhat surprisingly been a weak spot. — Dayn Perry
Are you serious? C’mon… they haven’t been watching the games.
June 30, 2019 at 11:48 am #96331Well, glad I didn’t follow last nights game. In baseball as in life every day is a new beginning. Hope springs eternal and I hope we take off after the all star break as I’ve seen em do before. Question is the cup half empty or half full? Talents there but can they improve. One things for sure 1 to 2 runs a game won’t cut it unless we get exceptional pitching. Really surprised at our roster, just a few left handed hitters with 2 being switchers. When we are playing against RHP distinct disadvantage having RHH . Also looked like the batting order for hitting 2 nights ago should have been reversed. The guys at the bottom of the order are the only ones hitting. So Go Cardinals. The only way is UP from here. “You Can Do It!” Billy Jo!
June 30, 2019 at 1:10 pm #96339As I recall last year, which y’all might remember was a disappointing season, this forum spent a lot of time beating up on Mabry for not doing his job with underperforming hitters. This year we certainly have an excessive number of underperforming hitters but I haven’t seen any criticism of the batting coach. In fact there has been so little mention of him I had to go look up his name. Why was Mabry such a target of attention and ol’ Whatshisname has not been?
June 30, 2019 at 1:20 pm #96342I am guessing it is because Jeff Albert has only been on the job for a few months whereas Mabry had been here awhile. I’m sure Albert will be in the crosshairs soon enough.
June 30, 2019 at 1:33 pm #96345Indeed Nyquist! I would have loved to have had CBS grading my schoolwork back in the day vs those lifeless slugs without an ounce of a senses of humor. The B- grade that CBS gift wrapped for our Birds was exactly two grades too high, as a D- seems like a good one to me.
Way too much work on a Sunday, Esteemed Rat! Why not hire the neighborhood kid for $8 an hour like I do for all of those terrible mindless jobs? Besides, I figured you’d be at the Bombers game today, Rat…..speaking of, my wifey may be joining her mother and grandmother this August on a two week whirlwind tour of Ireland. Talk about Christmas come early….2 glorious weeks of complete and utter freedom is just what the doctor ordered as far as I’m concerned. This may sound crazy, but I even think my dog knows that mommy may be hitting the road for a nice vacation as he most definitely has some extra spring to his step since the possibility arose. Anyway, I may be heading Rat’s way for a day to take in a Bombers game if she ends up going.
June 30, 2019 at 1:40 pm #96347Pugs, that is one of the funniest posts I have read on here in awhile. Trust me I can relate. I love the Mrs. GScottAR but we all need a break now and then, especially when the Redbirds are struggling!
June 30, 2019 at 1:45 pm #96348Today’s lineup:
2B Edman
RF JMart
SS DeJong
1B Goldy
LF O’Neill
3B Munoz
CF Bader
C Wieters
P MikolasNo Carp in the lineup for the third game in a row. Way to go “Baghdad Bob” Shildty! At least that makes sense.
June 30, 2019 at 2:09 pm #96350It is being said that Carpenter has a stomach ailment.
June 30, 2019 at 2:50 pm #96353I’m surprised they didn’t send down PDL. But there aren’t many options to replace him at the moment.
June 30, 2019 at 2:51 pm #96354Too much salsa will do that. Trust me, I know, especially his salsa.
June 30, 2019 at 2:53 pm #96355It is being said that Carpenter has a stomach ailment.
Actually it’s Carp who’s been giving us the stomach ailment!
June 30, 2019 at 3:34 pm #96356A two run homer by whathisface, McAdoo I think, puts the Padres on top 2-0 after the 1st.
And, of course, O’Neill strikes out again in his first time up.
June 30, 2019 at 3:56 pm #96358I had considered attending today’s game but about 11:30 this morning I decided to go for a 4 mile run instead in Coronado on the strand. Just couldn’t find it in me to spend my hard earned money supporting this clown show.
Lol I didn’t know Kerry Robinson brought the idea up to Dewitt to bring back baby blue uni’s for Saturday road games. Another terrible decision made by the organization.
June 30, 2019 at 3:56 pm #96359The umpire today is trash. He’s calling the curve from the padres pitcher a strike even when its a foot off the plate.
June 30, 2019 at 4:10 pm #96362Bader with some exciting, clean baseball to save a run. Headfirst diving sliding catch ends the 3rd and keeps the score 2-0. Cards have 6 innings to chip away at the lead.
June 30, 2019 at 4:10 pm #963633 runs scored in the last 30 innings….that’s hard to do
I will be shocked if there are not some organizational moves made tomorrow
June 30, 2019 at 4:19 pm #96365Hey ghost, it’s actually 3 runs in the last 38 innings (after the 4th inning today). But who’s counting?
June 30, 2019 at 4:41 pm #96370Tatis scoring from first there just shows how pathetic this team is. Schildt trying to defend the effort and saying this team is competing is a joke. Guy should never have been a big league manager and our rivals laughed at us for hiring him full time
June 30, 2019 at 4:43 pm #96372That was pathetic! Tatis scores from first and no he wasn’t running on the play.
Dan even took a dig at Jose Martinez there.
Now Jimmy railing on the defensive alignment in the OF.
June 30, 2019 at 4:43 pm #96373What we just witnessed there is nothing more than a culture problem. The atmosphere and culture of this team is bad and has been for a while now. Laziness and losing are accepted and expected.

You know Moetie needs his puppet at the top of the dugout.
June 30, 2019 at 4:50 pm #96379DeJong just made the All-Star game.
June 30, 2019 at 4:53 pm #96381Not able to watch the game and from these post, it doesn’t seem I’m missing much except another clown show from this poor excuse for a Major league team.
Changes need to be made and made soon if were going to have a chance in the second half. -
