Margot is up second and Webb is struggling to hit the zone. It’s a quick 3-0…now a walk as he almost throws the ball over Yadi.

Leone in now, and he scares me even more than Webb scares Euro. Will he be the Leone from the other night or is the Leone from most of this year lurking in there??

Webb walks Margot on 4 pitches, so Shildt opts for Leone. That oughta calm everybody’s nerves.

Leone gets a big K on a 96 mph heater past Hedges and now it’s 2 down.

Leone makes it look easy. He was just like a fine shot of Scotch. He put a nice relaxing capper on the evening.

Now it’s Myers. The first pitch gets right by him in a flash. 0-1. Now a slider off the plate for 1-1. Another one goes wide for 2-1. Let’s finish this off now, shall we? A fastball catches the plate to make it 2-2. Cards fans are on their feet and the ump won’t call the last strike! The 3-2 is fouled off. Now a grounder to Wong and he throws him out. 5-3 Cards. Whew!!

Ha, you can’t prove that. In fact, you can’t prove that Leone scares you more than he scares me, lol. But it all worked out!

Lucchesi is a SEMO grad. He played under the current MIzzou baseball coach. Of course that was when SEMO was a pretty decent mid-major program. Didn’t really develop MLB talent but they were always pretty solid every year in the OVC.

I guess what I was trying to say with regards to Jose Martinez is that the stupid goofball antics aren’t good when you screw up. If Martinez was hitting .335 with 25 hrs and 65 rbi’s now I wouldn’t mind it so much.

But he’s not, and he’s a terrible defender. He’s screwed up more than once this year but the goofball stuff just seems to continue. And that goomer Jim Edmonds seems to think its okay, having a laugh about him in the booth.

To me that’s NOT Cardinal Baseball.

If anything, this win should prove to them they can come from behind and win even with Ozuna, Carp and Hicks out of the game. Seattle is 37-51 and has lost their last 4 after an almost historic start early in the season. Time to tally up a few W’s.

Dave, we can only hope O’Neill turns out to be half the player Bagwell was considering Bagwell was a hall of fame caliber player.

I think O’Neill has a chance to be a RH version of Joey Gallo but he needs to play everyday.

Gotta disagree with that comparison, gscottar. They both have power and both strike out, but Gallo has an elite walk rate (19.6% this season), which coupled with his slugging, makes for a very nice OPS. That is not a strength of O’Neill.

I don’t think O’Neill is on Gallo’s level yet. I was suggesting that Gallo would be a more reasonable goal than Bagwell.

We won’t ever truly know about Tyler until he can get 400 AB’s at the big league level in one season. He still hasn’t proven he is any better than Grichuk but it would be nice if he got to play everyday.

Is Fox Sports Midwest playing games with the fans or what? For the first inning of the game they were showing the outline of the strike box. Then it disappeared for the rest of the game but came back only when a pitch was reshown. First thought was MLB is pressuring stations to not show the strike box outline because it is often inaccurate of the batter’s strike zone or because it subjects the home plate umpire to criticism which Kerwin Danley deserved for sure. The main question is who is directing the removal of that outline? I know a lot of fans don’t like it but it does give the fan some idea of the accuracy of a pitch.

McLaughlin got his knickers twisted about Tatis Jr scoring from 1B on a single but failed to note that the throw was to the cutoff man who relayed to home plate. I saw nothing wrong and when he tried to get Edmonds to join with him, Jimmy Ballgame went on to discuss four instances when Tatis Jr has done the same thing previously. McLaughlin commented when JMart was batting that he could ‘makeup’ for what he did earlier. Danny boy loves to praise the opposition but seems to get particular joy in listing dozens of stats to show just how bad the Cards are. But he never mentioned that they had the best record in the NLC for the month of June as of this past Friday. At least when Jimmy Ballgame is with him, we get to hear some factual material from an experienced ballplayer who was not a pitcher.

It was also nice not to hear 3 innings of the St Louis Blues praise.

If you think a single to right field that scores a runner from first base is fine, well then count me in as well. That was mighty fine base running by Tatis.

Even with having the worst offense in the entire league in the month of June the Cardinals ended with a 13-13 record. Not sure how it happened but I’m not complaining. Miracles really do exist.

Hearing about the Blues winning their first championship in franchise history has certainly become stale. I don’t know why FSMW a network that the Blues also call their home network have to keep talking about the Blues. Don’t they know its baseball season? Hockey season was so 2 weeks ago.
