Anderson has pitched well for the Rox. It will be interesting to see if Martinez can control a game or not. So far this year he has been quite “pedestrian”, as they say, at least compared to what you want from your number 1 starter.

    Why a 7:10 start?

he has only been pedestrian since coming back…we forget how awesome he was before he got injured. To me he seems like he still isnt fully healed from the first injury and now it is just nagging him. Similar to the oblique stuff Carp dealt with. Took a long time to come back from.

Carlos needs to get hitched….maybe a good woman can settle him down. He’s just to mentally frazzled to ever sustain a nice long stretch of quality work. A good nickname for Carlos would have been “The Toy Cannon”, but a guy named Jimmy Wynn claimed that cool name many moons ago.

Carlos really was going along well up until his first DL stint. As we’ve seen from a number of pitchers, lat injuries are no joke and he’s not yet appeared fully recovered from it just yet. I’m hoping to see a quality 6 inning, 2 run start from Carlos tonight and see if we can get to Anderson. I’d also look to see Bader get a start tonight.

If Bader starts it will have to be in CF. I think that Schlitz made a pact with Fowler to get him playing time so as to reverse the slump he is in.

How’s that working so far? He looks very aggressive at the plate, almost like a Sun. morning pickup softball player.

You just have to like the hustle and effort he has been putting into his game since MM left. HE is the starting RF for the play-off bound 2018 St Louis Cardinals.

His last in and first out attitude spread to the team as a whole, and that’s why this team is so boring.

Going to the game tonight with some Vietnam vets. Will toast good Cards plays and numb out with cold frosties not so good Cards plays.
Good fellowship either way, but a win will be much nicer of course.

Hats off to those vets! Enjoy the time, Cranny. Hopefully you will be celebrating a Cardinal victory with those cold, frosty ones. Does Shannon ever say that anymore? That was a classic line he created.

That’s undoubtedly a tough group you’re going with to the game tonight, Cranny. You’re a game too late though as you guys could have roughed up a few out-of-line cubbie fans if you had gone last night. Regardless, have a ball and thank all of those fine gentlemen for their wonderful service to our country!

    Thanks Mike and Pugsley.
Good group of guys. One was just awarded a Silver Star recently for action at Hue during Tet. Delayed award. Some new info came out.

No Martinez and no Pham….maybe we can trade them later tonight or tomorrow.

Martinez maybe will be traded…but I doubt they move Pham. Neither really has much trade value at this point.

How does JMart not have value? Was last night pinch hit proof he can’t hit?

    Come on.

Why is Gyorko hitting 5th? He’s not done much this year. We are in bad shape if he’s hitting 5th. Or in the lineup period.

And hows the weather over in the St. Louis area? Has all the rain all cleared out?

    Come on.

People see him as a DH basically at this point. He’s not JD Martinez level with the bat so he’s not likely to bring a ton back. Maybe a top 15ish team prospect and a lotto ticket. That’s at least what I fear his trade value is.

To say Jmart has no value is commical

I didn’t say he has no value. I said he does not have much trade value. Those are two wildly different statements. I happen to think he has more value to this team than value on the trade market, at least at this point.

Rain is gone for tonight. With no Wong and no JMart, Gyroko is going to be at third, dizziness or no. Heard an old interview of Ron Santo yesterday who said because of his diabetes and low blood sugar he once once saw three pitchers when he was at the plate, so he aimed for the middle one and hit a grand slam. That’s the kind of attitude we need from our players.

Ozuna can get us on the board.

Anderson has a weird move for sure. Maybe not a balk but it sure seems like it could be.

Carlos’ velocity looks back up to normal tonight. 4 Ks through 2.
