A dreaded Apple TV game. I like our chances with McGreevy. The late inning pen crew should be good to go again.

Call me crazy, but I kind of like these games on Apple TV. We’re closing in on the quarter pole in this 2026 season. This is a time where one gets a pretty good idea on what kind of a team you have. Though we most likely won’t continue at this winning percentage, one thing is pretty clear……this is a pretty darn good bunch of ballplayers and yes a wild card berth is a tangible possibility.

Ha ha, thanks Blingster. You know if we win the game tonight, there will be no “if’s, and’s and what’s about it”….this 2026 upstart St. Louis squad will be unmasked as a true playoff contending team. I in no way am insinuating that we’re not, but tonight’s game is one where you bet the ranch and bet every darn penny in your checking and savings accounts, cash in your stocks and bonds and any and all retirement accounts, heck even bust open any piggy banks that may be situated around the house…….and plop it all down on the San Diego Padres to win tonight’s game. Let’s call it 7-3 Pads. I hope I’m wrong, but I simply don’t miss on these “Bet The Ranch” games.

And what’s for din-din one may ask? It’ll be a trip on over to Olive Garden where I’ll be plating the eggplant with a couple Italian sausages on the side, salad with extra onions and a ton of breadsticks.

I’ve always really liked apples. Apple pie, apple sauce, apple juice, you name it. If it has apples in it, I’m in like Flint. However, they’re doing their best to attack the good character of apples with these slanderous telecasts…I’m wondering if we may indeed have some sort of legal recourse? I’m seriously considering retaining professional legal counsel to look into and address this grave matter. By the time my mouthpiece gets done with these lousy so and so’s, it’ll be called, “1TD + TV”…

Sounds like all the makings of a class action lawsuit, TD. Since a potential windfall could be in store, count me in. I know Rat and his Rat Terrier(Whitey HerDog) would gladly join……you know, I always assumed Whitey HerDog was a Rat Terrier, but I’m not 100% sure on that. Maybe Rat can provide a pic.

The eggplant with salsiccias sounds really good, Pugs. My favorite Aunt Shirlee, who’s parents emigrated to this country from the Napoli area of Southern Italy made an eggplant parmesan that was straight out of culinary heaven. She’d use fresh homegrowns from my Uncles’ garden and then go to work on her kitchen magic. However, she closely guarded her families’ recipes as though they were all highly classified state secrets…Haha! She sure could prepare and lay out an outstanding meal.

I like the Cards chances in this one. I think McGreevy gives us 6 quality innings and Ivan the Terrible goes 2 for 4 with 3 RBI and Cards win 5-3.

Not sure what is for din-din tonight. Pizza night has been rescheduled for tomorrow night because we have to go to a graduation party tonight. Hopefully they have a nice buffet and hopefully I am back home by the third inning.

I have a terrible confession to make: Din-din tonight was sausages and beans, washed down with iced tea and followed by a bowl of rice pudding. And actually, it wasn’t as awful as you might think, with the application of a little French mustard. On the sausages, not the rice pudding.

Now, let’s win another ball game. Rah Cardinals!

That’s similar to what I’m having for a late lunch, CIF. Leftover seasoned up black eyed peas with rice, a Jimmy Ray Dean sausage patty and cornbead muffins with strawberry jelly. And you can’t hardly enjoy that meal without an iced tea to drink. Simple, but pretty doggone good.

Mountain time zone where I reside is not as brutal for Cali’ games. I like that!

Hey,Pugs I seem to remember you mentioning Phoenix in a post a few months back…you live there?

My initial intention was to move back to Wisconsin after graduating from ASU. But I ended up staying in the greater Phoenix area for about another 15 years, Carter. I love it here, but also miss Arizona. Florida is nice for vacations, but I like Arizona much better. Are you thinking of moving there, Mr. Le Grand?

Scotty not having pizza for din-din on a Friday night? Those sausages and beans sound mighty tempting, Cardinal in France…….especially with your mustard rice pudding chasers. Yeah TD it’s funny why so many cooks will not reveal their special recipes. It’s not like they can take them with them when they pass on. You’re definitely going to have to get Aunt Shirley to cough up that eggplant recipe……so then you can in turn pass it along to your good ol’ pal Pugs.

Normally don’t confess my sin meals but having a Philly Cheese steak sandwich and fries with a big bowl of ham and beans soup with turnip greens and six pack of Stag. I’ll pay for it tonight and morning. Predicting Cards 7 to 5.

That’s a dandy din-din, Curt! That 6 pack of Stag is a very nice touch.

Haha!…Stag and Falstaff used to be the brew of choice for quite a few beer drinkers in the StL. area, Flood. Especially Falstaff which is the only beer I ever recall my dad and uncle drinking. In fact, most of the old time beer drinkers told me that at one time Falstaff was more popular in StL. than any of the Anheuser Busch products.

Good Gawd NO! I too lived there but the traffic, the cost of living and worst of all…the goddam heat in that valley!

Whitey Herdog is a Dachshund. The pic of her first day with me is in my thing, whatever you call it, next to my name.

And today was a CCFF. Cardinals Catfish Fiddlers Friday for din-din at the Amish restaurant out on the lake, north of town. Catfish fiddlers, some baked fish, mashed potatoes/gravy, noodles, green beans, and a piece of strawberry pie.

Oh wow, never really took note of your pic, Rat. Whitey HerDog sure looks like a sweetheart!

You’re 100% correct with the Phoenix traffic and heat, Carter. But from mid-October thru February, there’s no place on earth quite like Phoenix. Their crisp cool morning air is fabulous.

For din din we had flatbread pizzas delivered. One was anchovy and onion, the other Margherita. Also a greek antipasto salad.
