Griffin Alexander Canning. Griff just flipped the yearly calendar for the 28th time last week. Totally an LA dude, having been born and raised in Mission Viejo, attending UCLA and now pitching for the Los Angeles Angels. Drafted in the 2nd round of the 2017 MLB draft. Has experienced an array of injuries in his short career, but seems fit for duty now. Has a propensity to give up the long ball, so we should see a couple of our boys going downtown in tonight’s game.

What’s for din-din tonight? A can of Hormel beef & bean chili over 2 pieces of white toast, cottage cheese(heavily sprinkled with pepper), tomato slices draped in salt & pepper, and just 2(watching the ole’ waistline this week) Popeye’s apple cinnamon pies. Rat may not waste his breath, as it being Wednesday, we all know he is heading over to his favorite Amish restaurant “The Gastof” for a smorgasbord fit for a king. I’ll be home early from the salt mines today, so am very much looking forward to rubbing elbows with our esteemed game thread gang this evening.

Oh and congrats to stlcard25!! If it’s going to be a boy, I think we’re looking at a future Ace in our Cards rotation, gang.

I’ve got my broom ready for tonight. Let’s see if I get to bring it out.

I thought this would be an afternoon affair with it being a get-away game. Man, these are two pretty bad clubs, and we have seen some real gaffes in this series.

That Halo’s shortstop sure does not look like your prototypical middle infielder. Kind of a shorter stocky guy – usually shortstops are lean. He looks more like a catcher – kind of like watching Yogi Berra play short.

Our man Shady has to be thrilled with the burly Burleson’s performance last night. He has hit pretty well overall starting in Spring Training. Has the look of a guy who is putting it together and getting accustomed tot he bigs. Get that confidence going and who knows. Shady is as much of a Burleson fan as Mr. GameCard is of Tommy Edman. Speaking of which, with Edman out for who knows how long, we never hear from GC. Hope he is doing well and still tuning in the games even if his guy is in sick bay.

Shady is going to be talking contract extension for Burly now. How about 5 years/$100M? Maybe Mo can get that done on his way out the door.

Now that Carp leading off has worked a couple times Bernie has an article on Scoops saying how he was in favor of it. Sure Bernie, me too.

Nope, not going to the Gasthof, the Amish restaurant, today. Usually I do but I am going to wait and go tomorrow (Thursday) and then afterwards I am heading to Jasper for the titanic struggle between the visiting Bloomington South Panthers and the homestanding Jasper Wildcats!

Din-din today will be a Hungry Man’s Roasted Turkey TV dinner, a big bowl of Turkey Hill Vanilla Bean ice cream, and an ice cold slushy Mt. Dew. All of this whilst me and Whitey Herdog sit on the couch and watch the 1963 movie The Great Escape with Steve McQueen. Bought it the other day, I’ve never seen it.

Would be nice for a sweep tonight. Hopefully Lynn is on his game.

I have been doing low carb the last few weeks. It can be a bit of a challenge but I am going to stick with it as I have already lost a few pounds. Tonight are a couple of BLT’s with mayo wrapped in low carb tortillas with a ceasar salad on the side along with a diet coke. Tomorrow night will be a new york strip steak, big helping of green beans, and a side salad with ranch dressing. I have usually been having bacon and eggs for breakfast. So far so good. Lost about 5 pounds since May 1.

Friday nights have traditionally been a pizza night for me so that is a tough one. I found a low carb pizza crust that I am going to try this Friday.

Thanks, Pugs! It’s an exciting time for us. TBA on the boy or girl, but we will be finding out soon.

On tonight’s game…let’s hope for a sweep. We need a couple more in the next two weeks to really get back on track.

Remember those Swanson Mexican style TV dinners? I recall those as being pretty good. I think they were an enchilada and a couple of tamales with beans and rice. The only problem was that they took a half a day to cook in the oven and if you weren’t careful and got in a big hurry they’d incinerate the roof of your mouth.

If someone would have told me Lynn would have an ERA well under 4.00 after 8 turns in the rotation, I’d have been more than happy about it. In any case, LL has always been the sort of SP’er who will put forth a scuffle. He seems to almost always give his team a fighting chance for a W. This fact is well evidenced by the fact that during his 13 year career, he’s never once had a losing season.

Taking a gander at the Wednesday out-of-town scoreboard:

Milwaukee squeaks by the Pirates by the score of 10-2 at County Stadium. No word on Front Row Amy’s attendance.

Arizona scores a run in the last of the 8th at the BOB and holds on for the 2-1 win over Cincinnati down in the desert.

Cubs and Braves are scoreless in the top of the 1st at Fulton County Stadium in Atlanta.

HAL 9000 seems a little slow getting the lineup out. Ollie is probably pacing back and forth.

Oh boy….where do I start? Hope you’re not doing that kayak fishing in the ocean, KeepComingBack? Tiger and Bull sharks seem to be starting to notice those in the water……and that’s not a good thing. Please let us know when you find out, stlcard25…..but I can tell you that it’s a boy you have coming your way. You are 100% correct with the Swanson Mexican tv din-dins, TD! It’s been over 30 years since I’ve had one, but boy those rascals were tasty. I’ll be picking up a few next time I hit the supermarket. Looks like Scotty has a pretty good diet going on. I would go ahead and reward yourself by having your regular pizza on Friday, Scotty. I’m a firm believer that a person attempting to lose weight should have that one day every week where they can eat whatever they want. You’re going to absolutely love “The Great Escape”, Rat. I’ve seen it roughly 200 times……but have yet to see it’s ending. I’ve been meaning for years to see it in it’s entirety during the day. I think I’ve mentioned it before that every night I fall asleep to a show, but hardly ever make it for more than 20-30 minutes before nodding off. For me it’s a great way to fall asleep. And when I get a good show I’ll keep watching it until I get sick of it. For instance, I watched “The Great Escape”, “Hoosiers”, “About Schmidt”, “Islands In the Stream”, “Heat”, “The Kominsky Method”, “The Prince of Tides” and “Silence of the Lambs”, each over 6 months consecutively until switching to another show. Go Cards!

Not much of a din-din for me as I met up for the monthly luncheon with the local SABR group and had a BLAT (bacon-lettuce-avocado-tomato) sandwich with fries. Stuck with water to drink. Just having a salad and a King Hawaiian roll, with more water as the “din-din”.

Just not all that hungry now and we are headed to see the grandson get some sort of special vitiating. He is graduating high school, although he is still 17 so a bit on the young side.

Everyone was shocked that the Rox have won six straight. They only won 8 of their first 36, and now have thrown six more “W’s” onto their ledger.

Should be back to see most of this one. Can’t quite envision the sweep as this Cardinal team constantly disappoints, but then the Halo’s look really bad. They are probably paying about as much in salary to Trout and Rendon as our entire payroll, and neither guy is playing.

Have enjoyed Edmonds gathering about the Angels franchise and his memories there.

    In the FWIW Department:

Jordan Walker is currently hitting .315 down in Memphis. However, he has no dongs so far.

If the Cardinals can somehow hang a W up on the board tonight it would vault them all the way north to 3rd place in the NLC standings. Now, that’s what I call some genuine progress!

Din-din tonight was touch and go and nuthin’ fancy…Warmed up a can of Chef Boyardee overstuffed Italian sausage ravioli that I doctor up with some Italian seasoning, garlic powder, and then smother in parmesan once I plate it up. It was really good served up with some Wal-Mart bakery French bread with butter and a tall glass of ice water. That Boyardee guy’s a pretty good cook…Haha!

Din din was grilled ham and cheese. I planned on tomato soup to dip it in but we are out. Fitz’s grape soda. There is one of those salad kits in the fridge but I forgot to make it up. Desert is a Klondike bar or two.
