Matz or Hudson? I’ma guess Matz.

Last season, Hudson pitched well about 40% of the time, and weak or poor the other 60%. If he could repeat that, that would actually be a slight upgrade over what we have now.

Unfortunately, his major problem was going a little over 5 innings per start. Even if he threw shutout ball for five innings, I’m not sure what good that would do with our shaky pen

Willson can throw strikes to 2B, let him start and maybe go 2 IP. Then Burly for an inning. The hole wouldn’t likely be worse than what the rotation puts us in. Then come with Matz, which should get us into the 7th and the late innings guys. Ollie has to play the players he’s given, so go ahead and play them.

Who’s gonna catch if Contreras is on the mound? Knizner took one in the family jewels and may be out for few days….

    Bring up Herrera?

    Maybe Burleson can catch too?

I would expect Hudson and Herrera to be on the way to the club. I would choose Hudson over Matz but at this point I don’t know if it really matters.

    Knizner was at Emergency Room.

He may be done for awhile.

Do we have enough pitchers to actually play games considering that our starters have issues getting 4 innings in?

We have enough pitchers just not enough quality pitchers. This situation has been brewing for a few years. The dam finally burst.

The pain Andrew must have dealt with had to have been excruciating with being hit on that particular part of the anatomy. I think a call to bow our heads for a minute is in order.

I’m not entirely sure which of the two is correct, but this thread has this game starting at 12:10 pm and my folding pocket size paper schedule that I snagged from the counter at the gas station near our house last March tells me that first pitch is slated for 5:40 pm CDT.

Edit…I also checked the guide feature on our cable TV setup and it too tells me there’s a Cardinal game scheduled to be broadcast from 5:30 to 8:30 pm CDT on Wed. evening. At any rate, double check it because I’m sure no one wants to miss seeing this incredibly talented and determined team play and compete in a manner that we’ve all come to know as, “The Cardinal Way”…

I say we go with TBD. He can’t be any worse than the rest of them. Quick somebody show him how to grip the ball to throw a four seamer and the appropriate look to to put on his face as the ball rockets to the upper deck.

Game time has been corrected above. No starter has been announced as of yet. Could depend on who is called up to replace Wainwright.

Gotta be Hudson coming back up doesn’t it?

They should start Matz tonight so that Hudson doesn’t have to get off the plane and go straight to the mound.

Hopefully the team is enjoying some fine Cuban fare while they are in town and staying off the topless beaches!!

Well both Matz and Hudson will likely pitch as neither can be depended on to get through 3 innings without 5ER. I guess start the one that you hope will get you the easier lineup to face.

I don’t know exactly why, but I have more confidence in the ability of Hudson to work through 4 or 5 innings than either Liberatore, Matz or Woodford. It may be because I hadn’t seen him in a while until the other day vs. the Yankees and I’ve been exposed to the other 3 guys for the majority of this horrendous season. At any rate, I mentioned the other day that Hudson features rudimentary career numbers that consist of a W/L record of 32-17 with a 3.58 ERA, while Jack Flaherty shows me 39-30 with a 3.57 ERA. If I’m a die hard cricket fan, Hudson’s the better pitcher…I’d rather see Hudson get the baseball for tonight’s game rather than Liberatore, but I don’t work for Johnny.

If Libby can go 3 strong with Matz, Woody, Thompson and Genesis ( properly pronounced “Hen-a-sis” ) “Cabby” Cabrera, dealing the other 6 frames, I don’t know how we could lose. Let’s call this one 7-3 St. Louis with Arenado getting off the power schneid to the tune of a tape measure ramrod job high up into the rafters in left and a ringing double to the gap in left-center. What’s for din-din one may ask? How does a big Mac and a fish sandwich from McDonald’s and 3 Popeye’s apple cinnamon pies grab you?
