Hey Rat, catching up on yesterday’s postings, I see you are a Triumph man.

I rode a Daytona around the world back in the day!

Based on Mikolas going this feels like at least a coin flip game.

Christian “The Reptile” Javier. This crafty Dominican has come a long way after being inked by Houston as an international free agent in 2015 for $10,000. These days, Christian probably bestows that kind of money upon his second cousin, Linares Aspamonte Rodriguez, for his birthday. With the last name “Javier” and his geographical upbringings, one does have to ponder the possibility of Christian inhabiting the same family tree as our bespectacled 2nd baseman from many moons ago, Manuel Julian Javier Liranzo.

What’s on deck for din-din tonight one may ask? Well since Pugs is now a single hombre, I find myself eating out much more. Since I love early din-dins, I’ll be heading over to Johnny’s Steakhouse around 4:30pm to indulge in a bone-in ribeye, asparagus spears, baked potato and then afterwards swing on by Popeye’s drive thru to secure 3 of their fabulous apple cinnamon pies.

    CIF,
Nope, not a Triumph man. I have had three (3) Harley-Davidson motorcycles but currently do not own one. I also had a Honda and Yamaha in my younger days. Having said this, should I ever get another one it might well be a Triumph.

Din-din today is the weekly trip to the Amish restaurant, the Gasthof. Me and four (4) other retirees are meeting there since one of them had a birthday yesterday. Fried Chicken, fish, roast beef, mashes potatoes/gravy, green beans, noodles, dressing, boiled carrots, cherry cobbler, soft serve ice cream. Yum yum!

Oh man, sorry to hear your marriage dissolved Pugs. Sounds like you have adjusted to the single life again without too much difficulty. I am on marriage #2, but we have been hitched for 22+ years and will be until one of us decides we have had enough of this life and checks out.

Have no idea what we will have for dinner. But I hope Mikolas can get back in the groove and go at least 6. This Javier kid looks like a tough one. As Pugs noted, he brings up thoughts of our own Manual Julian Javier – now a Cardinal Hall of Famer. As a kid growing up in the ‘60s, two things were certain about Cardinal baseball. Julian Javier was the second baseman and Curt Flood was the center fielder.

Thanks BicycleMike! Boy not much action on tonight’s game thread. I was going to hop on up in the PBP saddle, but I don’t think there are many around this evening.

Pugs – is your PBP record on the year still 2-0?

If so, I’ll be checking in for the PBP.

Yes, 2-0 LACardFan. All time PBP record of 267-112. Well if LACardFan is on hand tonight then it’s……..Game On! I’m looking for my PBP mic and 12 pack as we speak.

There we go! We’ve got to bring the Cardinals some good luck and get them back to .500. That means Pugs will have to do a lot more PBP in the second half of the season!

I still don’t understand batting Contreras and his .677 OPS in the #5 slot. Aren’t you supposed to have protection for your cleanup hitter?

Any right thinking fan can see that it is Caray’s job on the line rather than Marmol’s.

Maybe you should send them an email boasting of your PBP record, Pugs (that is how Girsch got his job – sending them an email how he monetizes the values of players)

$87 million is why he is in the lineup, it’s not why you have to keep trotting him out in the #5 slot

Before my accident last October, I was thinking of trying to get a shot at calling the action for one of our lower rung minor league affiliates, LACardFan. I would do it for free and handle my own expenses. After that, my call up to the big club would come quicker than Jordan Walker’s ascension to the bigs.

Anyone else having technical difficulties with their Prime feed of this game? Hope they get it fixed soon.

Mikolas not doing Pugs and his unblemished record on the season any favors in the first.

Well Pugs, I live in Boca Raton now. So, if you hitch on with a minor league affiliate, make sure it is the Palm Beach Cardinals!!!

Ohhhh it’s early, LACardFan………very early. But if Houston scores more than 5 here in the 1st, then I see my technical difficulties worsening very quickly.

Would love to do Palm Beach. Do they have a decent PBP guy right now, LACardFan? I love the game so much that I would do it for free and handle all my expenses. The only thing I would request out of them would be a little ac in the booth.

I haven’t made it to any of their games yet, Pugs.

Yeah, I figured you’d probably do it for beer.

But it rains almost every day in South Florida. It’s amazing they ever get games in. I went from SoCal, where it almost never rains, to South Florida, where it rains daily.

What terrible luck. I watch these games on Prime Video and they’ve been great all year. But tonight about every 30 seconds the screen freezes for about 20 seconds……and you miss a bunch of the action. I’m just shutting it down and starting it over.

And now it’s working great and I missed most of this wonderful bottom of the 1st inning. If someone can recap the highlights of this bottom of the 1st, I should be ready and rearing to go in the bottom of the 2nd. Thank you very much for your patience.
