I will miss most of this game as I will be attending the high school football game between the Warriors of Evansville Harrison High School and the Wildcats of Jasper High School. This is not expected to be a close one as Harrison is considered to be going through some down years on the gridiron. Hopefully it’s about a 35-0 game late in the 3rd and I can get home in time to catch the last few innings.

And with Atlanta throwing three righthanders in this series it appears as if Pujols will be relegated to pinch-hitting.

I can’t find any info that indicates if either Helsley or Arenado will return for this weekend’s series vs. Atl. Anyone know?

I think Helsley does…don’t know about Arenado.

Before we know it, the kid’s going to be driving. Hopefully we’ll see Helsley tomorrow night. And Rat? You’re going to be in for quite the surprise tomorrow evening, as Evansville Harrison’s Warriors are going on the warpath to the tune of a 36-33 shocker vs Jasper.

Obviously Goldy’s had some pretty good protection hitting behind him all season long, but he proved today that he’s going to rip the baseball even if I’m in the 4 slot.

    Helsley:

Helsley missed the previous week to be with his wife and newborn in Oklahoma. The couple’s first child, a daughter, had to undergo some tests and Helsley requested the time to be with his wife until the results of those tests were known.

    The tests were ‘good result’.

Arenado is not yet on paternity leave but could be added. Flew to St Louis on his scheduled day off

Well Pugs, in that case I better go ahead and go to the Amish Restaurant north of town, Lakeview, tomorrow instead of waiting until next Friday when Jasper is on the road. Looks like I will be consuming some catfish fiddlers tomorrow!

The Good Guys are presently 7.5 games behind the Mets for the 2nd seed in the NL post season. Yes we can, and yes we will.

This is a big series for both teams. Both have played well of late and either seized their division or are closing in on a long time leader.

It would have been nice to face a lefty, but the lefty in Atlanta’s rotation is Fried, so perhaps not. I think the games are winnable for us, and I hope the bats stay warm for these three. Every series win is another step closer to taking the Central.

Bling…I’ve been eyeing that, and it’s certainly within reach. Obviously, it’d be nice to have one less round to survive. Either way’s okay with me. My favorite team has demonstrated in the past that they do pretty well when backed into a corner as witnessed not only by having to play a month’s worth of 7th games in Sept. of ’11, but also by edging Houston on the next to last day of the ’06 regular season thus avoiding having to travel to SF to play a 1 game rainout makeup to decide the NLC. I’m not too sure what’s best…To have some breathing room, or to hold on to that intense competitive drive that only comes from being contantly exposed to fire during the heat of battle. Take your pick…

stlcard25…Do you think that little Oli will disregard the book and have Albert in there at DH to face RHP’ing for either 2, or all 3 of these games? I still think the great slugger is a bit vulnerable to RHP’ing at times, but certianly not at the present moment. He seems to be ripping the baseball like he thinks he’s taking his AB’s in game 3 of the ’11 WS…I imagine Ron Washington may be waking up in the middle of night with cold sweats for the last few weeks.

One team will win two out of these three games. There will be no sweep. The Brewers in all likelihood will sweep the Cubs at Miller Park. We will head to Cincinnati on Monday with a five game lead.

Well, the Redbirds are not only situated in 1st place in the NLC, but also feature the best player in the entire Big Leagues. Seems like old times.

Henry Aaron, Red Schoendienst, Warren Spahn, Eddie Mathews, Lew Burdette, Del Crandell…That ’57 Braves team featured some pretty good names during a time that if you were a NL fan, you absolutely abhorred the NY Yankees.

The Redbird turns in the rotation for this series fall into line as Quintana, Montgomery and Wainwright, which coincidentally, are precisely how they lined up when the Cardinals last ran the table against a winning team (NY Yankees) in a 3 game series.

Oliver…Yep, and Eddie at SS with, Dickerson in LF and Molina behind HP. Also see that Nado is still on paternity leave with Donovan manning up at 3B. Looks okay to me. I wonder if Helsley’s back?

Edit; Just saw a prior post regarding Helsley…Haha! Thanks gscottar!
