August 25, 2021 at 6:11 pm #170764What’s the word on Flaherty? Anybody heard anything?
August 25, 2021 at 8:46 pm #170769I wouldn’t expect to see see Flaherty until next February in Florida, Rat. Hey it’s Wednesday. No Gasthof buffet din-din revelations? Big game this Friday, Rat. I’m calling it 27-17 Cullman.
August 26, 2021 at 11:24 am #170792All games are free on MLB.TV today… still subject to blackouts, of course…
August 26, 2021 at 11:54 am #170797Pugs? Yep, went to the Gasthof yesterday for my weekly Wednesday din-din. Even got my usual table by the window.
And I want everybody to know I stayed up for ALL 16 INNINGS last night of the Dodgers and Padres. About 3:30, in the last of the 15th, just when I thought me and Whitey Herdog might finally get to bed that goomer Frank Tates Jr. hit’s a tying two run homer. Then Pollock’s two run homer in the top of the 16th won it for the Dodgers.
Me and Whitey Herdog didnt hit the hay until 4:00 this morning.

August 26, 2021 at 1:46 pm #170802Well, let’s see if we can beat up on the Pirates a little bit tonight. Winning still feels good even when it’s at the expense of the bottom feeders. But I don’t think even the Pirates will allow us a taste of futile joy if we don’t get a few more than five hits (even if two of them are lovely knocks into the seats). Let’s see what 10 or 11 hits might buy for us.
Now, I don’t want to kick a fella while he’s down or join the increasingly vociferous discussion about our closer, but I’m sorry to say he has overtaken Carlos Martinez at the top of my sphincter-clenching list. I know all the positives his supporters loyally trot out and the increasing negatives his detractors have lately been posting. I just want to say he has been causing me severe discomfort in the lower bowel area lately and I would like it to stop.
Let’s cure all that with Thursday night slugfest in the city of the three rivers so we won’t need a closer.
Rah Cardinals!
By the way, I just finished a nice din-din of trout, lightly and briefly cooked in butter, with brown rice and succulent ratatouille, finished off with some fresh raspberries.
August 26, 2021 at 3:50 pm #170808My batting order for tonight using Shildt’s starting players would be:
Edman
Nootbaar
Arenado
Goldschmidt
Carlson
Sosa
Molina
Bader
MikolasI will again for with 4 as the over/under on Mikolas’ innings pitched. The “over” was the winner in his last outing.

ParticipantBader should have bunted the runners over.
August 26, 2021 at 6:44 pm #170818Looks like the guys ate their Wheaties today. I like it.
August 26, 2021 at 6:49 pm #170819Polanco might have been worth a try. Hell, look what we have. O’Neill, Carlson. Polanco, across the OF. Trade Dejong for him. Fresh start might be good for both.
August 26, 2021 at 7:02 pm #170820That does it. Dejong back in lineup tomorrow night.
August 26, 2021 at 7:16 pm #170821The Bucs may have had a bowl or two themselves.
August 26, 2021 at 7:43 pm #170822Patch Boys crawling back in. Bullpen get up.
August 26, 2021 at 7:46 pm #170823CIF I have to admit Reyes is right in there with Cmart with me on closer. Was gonna warn Rats to close his eyes last night. I take Mylanta for that. We’ve got a good jump but they’re starting to get hits now. Good to see Mikolas back and not giving up the farm in the first 2 innings. Also good to see Nooty starting. I’d get him lots of abs against rh pitching. Looking like he might be a good one.
August 26, 2021 at 7:49 pm #170824Mikolas is over bikemike at 5!
August 26, 2021 at 7:51 pm #170825Nooty can get something going in the 6th
August 26, 2021 at 8:28 pm #170826This juggernaut is ripping right now.
August 26, 2021 at 8:34 pm #170827We have our hands full with a team that is 35 games below .500
August 26, 2021 at 8:38 pm #170828What he’s not letting him stay in for a 7th hit. Schildt reminding me of matheny. Gut this Coaching Staff.
August 26, 2021 at 8:39 pm #170829Wow gonna just leave him in really?
August 26, 2021 at 8:41 pm #170830They only _have to pitch to 3 guys.
August 26, 2021 at 8:42 pm #170831We have the dumbest manager. He must have been lucky last year.
August 26, 2021 at 8:42 pm #170832You can throw it hard but if theres no movement on it its gonna get hit
