Well hopefully adam can keep the pitching train going. Hopefully we can clean up the fielding a bit and just put good at bats together.

    OPS+ by player:

    Wong 84
    Edman 82
    Goldy 194
    Dejong 90
    Carp 85
    O’Neill 68
    Yadi 62
    Fowler 107
    Bader 142

    Miller 207
    Carlson 30
    Knizner 0
    Shrock 117

A few of those stick out like a sore thumb. We need some better production out of everyone, but specifically the guys that surround Goldy.

And perhaps the most consistent in the early going compared to his career, the oft-maligned Dexter Fowler, with his career OPS+ of 105. He is what he is, slightly above MLB average.

There seems no better opportunity for some of the slower-moving hitters than to feast on the KC and Pittsburgh pitching over the next four games. Gotta clean up against the last-place teams.

Butt ugly comes to mind. You need to quit posting stuff like that. 😉 You get weird stats in what should be the infancy of a season, but more balance around the good/bad marker would make for a better looking baby.

Amen to must do on taking down the weak teams (now that we have cracked above 500) but I am glad we don’t have to see those White Sox again – those guys are mashers. From what I heard and saw last night, in addition to Jim Edmonds, Dylan Carlson is getting some mentoring from Goldy – great news. I don’t think Dylan will ever see Springfield again.
And one side note: What is it with Yadi and the diamond earrings? The last chunk of jewelry I thought a baseball player would wear during a game is earrings. Maybe he forgot to take them off……..two nights in a row. I wonder if Yadi is planning on letting a backup play one of those DH games.

That mentoring by Goldy doesnt seem to be paying dividends for Carlson. OPS+ of 30? Time to give Williams a shot.

Well geez it just started a couple of days ago as I heard it. It takes time to make a fine wine.

As for Carlos. I don’t think he will ever be fine wine with that sore wing.

Well putting miller as DH makes sense. Edman back at third seems right. Im not sure carlson has earned the right to start everyday so i thought oneil might get a start for him or bader even though both those guys have been hitting especially bader. Maybe tomorrow. I like to see all people get chances especially when the difference isnt much. They are going to have to make some decisions with thomas and one other guy back.

Waino got into a jam in the 2nd and was lucky to get out only down 1-0. Harvey mows down the Cards to maintain the lead.

I know molina had that big game a couple nights ago but he needs to get better at laying off some pitches. Lat night and first bat today he just was swinging at balls nowhere near a strike. we need to get back to having good at bats across the board.

Waino now struggles after getting two quick outs in the third…and gives up another run, with the Royals still threatening.

Bader with a nice play to end the inning. Cards trail 2-0.

Speaking of stats, anyone else notice that Pujols’ lifetime BA is .299? I figured he would have retired at the end of last season, at .300 even.
Since Albert moved out west, in 2012, the Angels are w 665 – L 672.

Nice stat about Goldschmidt. Has walked 17 times, and struck out 12 times.

Now Miller punches one under the 2B glove and it’s 3-2!

    And that’s it for Harvey….

Dejong hits a hot one to the third baseman, who throws from his knees and throws it away. The Cards go up 4-2 with runners at 2nd and 3rd and that’s all she wrote for Harvey.

That was a nice inning by Waino…exactly what you want when you’ve struck and taken the lead.

The Royals have now turned at least three unassisted double plays in the last two days. This one erases a promising start with two walks and means Wong will have to come through.

I like Bader trying to bunt there. With all this shifting going on, it sure would complicate things. Try and move runners over, and if you get a hit it’s a bonus.
