The St. Louis Cardinals minor league system was 0-1 on Saturday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day, Memphis 1B Blaze Jordan, crushed his seventh home run with the Redbirds. Other standouts include Brody Moore, Gerson Moreno, and Mike Antico.

Memphis Redbirds 3, St. Paul Saints 11
The Triple-A Memphis Redbirds fell to the St. Paul Saints at AutoZone Park on Saturday.
Zach Plesac started for the Redbirds. The right-hander pitched 2 ⅔ innings and allowed three runs on four hits, four walks, and two strikeouts. Plesac took the loss.
Gerson Moreno fired 2 ⅓ hitless, scoreless innings in relief of Plesac.
Anthony Veneziano surrendered four runs in 1 ⅓ frames. Andre Granillo recorded two outs without allowing a run. Osvaldo Berrios yielded four runs, three earned, across 1 ⅓ innings. Oddanier Mosqueda secured the final two outs of the ninth.
The Redbirds scored the first run of the game in the bottom of the second inning.
With two outs, Mike Antico walked. Brody Moore hit his first triple with the Redbirds to bring Antico home and put Memphis in front 1-0.

The Saints responded with a three-run third inning to take a 3-1 lead. Memphis moved within a run in the fifth.
Noah Mendlinger led-off the frame with his second triple with Memphis. Mendlinger crossed home plate on a Matt Koperniak groundout to bring the Redbirds within a run at 3-2.
St. Paul erupted for back-to-back two-run innings in the sixth and seventh, three runs in the eighth, and one more run in the ninth to move ahead 11-2. Down to their final three outs, Memphis looked for a big rally in the home ninth.
Blaze Jordan crushed a solo home run, his seventh with the Redbirds, to trim the lead to 11-3.
Memphis was unable to rally further in the loss.
The Redbirds scored three runs on nine hits. Jordan hit a solo home run. Moore walked, tripled, and scored a run. Mendlinger tripled and scored a run. César Prieto hit his 35th double of the season. Mike Antico was 2-for-3 with a run scored, the lone Redbird with a multi-hit game. The lineup was just 1-for-14 with runners in scoring position.
The Redbirds did not steal a base in the contest.
On defense, shortstop Prieto committed a fielding error. Pitcher Plesac picked a runner off first base. Catcher Gavin Collins also picked a runner off first base.
Memphis is 79-68 overall, and 38-36 in the second half. They will look to secure the series win in the final game of their season on Sunday.
Sunday’s game: vs. St. Paul, RHP Aaron Wilkerson (6-3, 3.96) vs. RHP Andrew Morris (4-5, 3.69) 1:05 PM CT.
Springfield Cardinals (off day)
The Double-A Springfield Cardinals were off on Saturday, as they prepared for Game One of the Texas League Championship Series against the Midland RockHounds (A’s) on Sunday.
The Cardinals will host the first game at Hammons Field and play the remainder of the best-of-three series on the road. Lefty Pete Hansen is slated to start Game One.
Springfield enters the finals with momentum following a 2-0 sweep in the North Division Series over Tulsa.
The S-Cards finished in first place in both the first and second halves of the regular season, winning 43 and 45 games, respectively. Their 88 total wins set a new franchise record and were 22 more than Midland, which finished six games under .500.
As their record suggests, the Rockhounds were up and down in 2025. Midland won the first half South Division title but went just 27-42 in the second half. Still, they dispatched second half division winner Amarillo in two games in the first round and hold the home field advantage.
There will be a new Texas League winner as the defending champion Arkansas Travelers did not make the 2025 playoffs.
