Cardinals Minor League Notebook – September 20, 2025

The St. Louis Cardinals system was 0-1 on Friday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day, Memphis infielder César Prieto, doubled and drove in a run in a multi-hit game.

Memphis 3, St. Paul 7

The Triple-A Memphis Redbirds fell to the St. Paul Saints in a 7-3 contest at AutoZone Park on Friday.

Starter Max Rajcic pitched three innings, gave up five runs, four earned, on four hits, struck out two and walked four. Rajcic took the loss.

Zack Weiss relieved Rajcic and surrendered two runs across two innings. Jack Ralston threw two shutout frames. Roddery Muñoz tossed the final two scoreless innings.

St. Paul went up 4-0 in the top of the first inning. Memphis answered with two runs in the home half of the inning to cut the lead to 4-2. César Prieto singled. Blaze Jordan tripled to bring Prieto home.

Jordan came home on a sac fly by Matt Koperniak to bring the Redbirds within two at 4-2.

The Saints added a run apiece in the top of the third, fourth, and fifth innings to extend the lead to 7-2.

The Redbirds put up their third and final run in the bottom of the fifth to trim the lead to 7-3. Andy Yerzy doubled and scored on a Prieto double.

Memphis was unable to rally further in the loss.

The Redbirds scored three runs on five hits. Prieto was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Jordan walked, tripled, scored a run, and drove in a run. Yerzy walked, doubled, and scored a run.

On defense, pitcher Rajcic made an error on a pickoff attempt. Center fielder Michael Siani had an outfield assist at home plate.

Memphis is 79-67 overall, and 38-35 in the second half. They are 10 games back of Scranton in the IL.

Saturday’s game: vs. St. Paul, Zach Plesac RHP (1-7, 7.55) vs. Kendy Rojas LHP (1-3, 7.76) 3:05 PM CT.

Springfield Cardinals (off day)

The Double-A Springfield Cardinals are off on Friday and Saturday, as they prepare for Game One of the Texas League Championship Series against the Midland RockHounds on Sunday. Springfield will host the first game at Hammons Field and play the remainder of the best-of-three series on the road.

Springfield enters the series following a 2-0 sweep in the Division Series over Tulsa.

Sunday’s game (Championship Series Game One): vs. Midland (ATH), LHP Pete Hansen (8-5, 3.93) vs. RHP Chen Zhong-Ao Zhuang (6-11, 4.08) 1:05 PM CT.
